Focus Development - main idea and supporting idea - a paragraph should at least have 4 sentences which explains and elaborates the topic sentence. - don’t make a long paragraph (ex. 10 sentences) How do you know if a text is organized? Unity - oneness of idea - all sentences developed - topic sentence with its controlling idea – supporting sentence - a clinching sentence or a concluding sentence Definition of terms Topic sentence – is the central idea to be developed (implied or expressed) Controlling idea – key words in the topic sentences.
