Both inferring and questioning techniques push students to think beyond the literal, text-based answers they might be used to giving and force students to think in deeper ways about the text. Example Through this text, you know that this person is unhappy, but indirectly, through his talk about the bad situations that happened to him. Summary Through the example above, we can infer that a person feels unhappy due to a lot of bad situations that happened to him. Basically, we go behind the text and find out a person feeling, although it wasn't mentioned throughout the text. We call this process ,inferring.
