Physical Education & Health 11 UNIT 1 - Dance for Fitness Taking Steps Towards Fitness Lesson 1 Introduction to Dance Values and Attitudes In this unit, the learners should be able to do the following:  Appreciate the cultural diversity represented in different dance forms.  Respect and value the contributions of various civilizations to the evolution of dance.  Foster teamwork and collaboration in group dance activities.  Demonstrate respect for the artistry and skill required in various dance forms.  Develop self-confidence and self-expression through dance. Warm-up Activitiy “Dance Charade” Purpose: This unit stimulus aims to activate the learners’ prior knowledge about different dance styles and movements. The activity encourages the learners to use body language and gestures to convey dance-related concepts and foster creativity and engagement. Warm-up Activitiy Instructions: 1. Form four groups. 2. Each group selects a member to be the “actor.” 3. The actor picks a paper strip and does the pose stated in the selected dance style or movement. He or she performs without speaking or using any props. 4. Instruct the group members to observe the actor’s movements and guess the correct dance style or movement portrayed. 5.
