Governance, in the context of GBS, is defined as the processes and structures by which the GBS organization, in order to deliver repeat best-in-class GBS services: Sets strategic objectives and cohesive policies and procedures Provides consistent management guidance Assigns roles and responsibilities and decision rights Effective governance is essential for expanding traditional shared se in one function into a leveraged, enterprisewide provider of a variet business services. An effective governance model also forms the framework upon which the GBS organization can build more value- enhancing services as its capabilities mature.
