OBJECTIVES A. Demonstrates understanding of parts, function of sense organs of the human body. B. Practice healthful habits in taking care of the sense organs. C. Describe the parts and functions of the sense organs of the human body. S3LT --IIa --b-1 II. SUBJECT MATTER A. TOPIC: Uses and Functions of the Skin B. MATERIALS: - Diagrams or pictures of the skin - Various things to feel (e.g.,fruits, pen, cup and etc.). - Box C. PREFERENCES: Learner's Material III. PROCEDURE A. PREPARATION - Prayer - Greetings - Checking Attendance B. REVIEW - What should we avoid to keep our tongue healthy? - How can you tell whether an object is hot or cold? - Does your skin feel itchy and at times become swollen when it is bitten by an insect? C. MOTIVATION D. PRESENTATION - Explain that the skin is the largest organ in our body and serves multiple important functions: - Protection: Acts as a barrier against pathogens and harmful substances. - Temperature Regulation: Helps maintain body temperature through sweat production. - Sensation: Contains nerve endings that allow us to feel touch, pain, heat, and pressure. - Describe each part: - Epidermis: The outer layer that provides a protective barrier. - Dermis: The inner layer containing blood vessels, nerves, sweat glands, and hair follicles. - Sweat Glands: Help regulate temperature by releasing sweat. - Nerves: Enable sensations such as touch and pain. E. ACTIVITY - Blindfold them.Taste challenge. - Post on the board the illustration of the nose. - Each group will be given manila paper and pentel pen to provide by the teacher. Make a four column table on the manila paper, (Sweet, Salty, Sour and Bitter). F. EVALUATION - Conduct a quiz where students will identify parts of the skin and describe their functions. G. ASSIGNMENT - Ask students to write down five ways they can protect their skin at home or school.
