National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) Your Guide To A + National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) الربنامج الوطني اإللكرتوين لنظم رصد األمراض z Definition ` NEDSS is an acronym for the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System. ` It is an initiative to promote data and information system standards for disease surveillance. ` Surveillance systems collect and monitor data for disease trends and/or outbreaks. ` Public health personnel use this data to protect the nation’s health. ` The National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) facilitates electronically transferring public health surveillance data from the healthcare system to public health departments z Goal of NEDSS: 1. To facilitate the electronic transfer of information needed for public health from clinical information systems 2. To reduce provider burden in the provision of information 3. To eliminate the need to process paper report 4.
