Some animals are hatched from eggs; others are born as a live young. Living things have different life cycles. A Life cycle shows the series of changes an organism undergoes from birth to adulthood. Living things go through different stages of growth and development. Humans go through have a Stages of growth and Reproductive system development start from which consists of Infancy Reproductive organs to that develop during Childhood Puberty to Adolescence to Adulthood Infancy (0 to 2 years old)  * The first stage of life.  * It is the time of rapid growth and mass gain. 1  * Helpless  * Depends on his/her parents for food, clothes, protection, and love.  * He cries, squirms, and smiles.  * He/she relies on others to meet most of their needs  * He/she will soon recognizes faces, voices, and smells.  * Muscles become stronger , baby teeth appear  * Infant grows into toddler and learns to sit up, crawl, stand and eventually walk.  * Brain grows larger and the bay begins to talk and grows rapidly       Page 2 Childhood stage (ages 3-10) 2  Is the time of mental and emotional development  during which children start to explore and develop a sense of independence  A child speaks in short sentences  He/she learns to draw, read, write and count  He enjoys playing  Muscle development and coordination  They love to invent games and make up stories.  They begin to learn to use their imagination, learn to enjoy playground equipment, ride bicycles and participate in sport.  By the age of ten, they learn to make friends, learn how to share, work and cooperate with others. Adolescence-is the period between eleven and eighteen years of age. Also known as teenage stage. 3  Many bodily changes occur because the pituitary gland begins to release hormones that trigger puberty. Male: 1. The body becomes more muscular 2. The testes start to produce sperm 3. The voice becomes deeper and 4. The body and facial hair appear. 5. The shoulders are wider and the arm muscles are thicker. Female: 1. The ovaries start to release eggs every month, starting the menstrual cycle. 2. They develop wider hips and thighs. 3. Their breast enlarge and body hair appear in areas such as the armpits. 4. Body shape changes.  It is also a time of cognitive change as adolescent begins to think of new possibilities and consider abstract concepts such as love, fear, and freedom. Puberty- is the stage when the body becomes sexually mature and is able to reproduce. Page 3 4 Adulthood - the period in the human lifespan in which full physical and intellectual maturity have been attained. Adulthood is commonly thought of as beginning at age 18 or 21 years. Maturity –is the time when all body system are fully grown and developed.  Adults reach their physical peak between the ages of 18 to 30 years of age. 1. Muscles are strongest and coordination is the best during these years. 2. New responsibilities, education, jobs and careers. 3. The person stops growing in height. 4. The body continues to change in many ways. Ages 40 and 50  Most women experience menopause. A woman can no longer reproduce.  Men, however continue to produce sperm most of the remaining years of their life. Old Age Menopause is the time in a female’s life when ovulation stops and the menstrual cycle ends. Above 65 years old is considered an older adult.  Their body systems weaken. It take longer time to fight diseases and repair injuries. 5  Have poor eyesight and hearing.  They develop wrinkles and become forgetful.  The bones become more brittle as they lose calcium and other minerals. Similarly, joints become less flexible as the joints lose fluid and cartilage begins to rub together. V. Activities Please answer the posted Seat work # 1 VI.
