National Law – RA 10068: Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 (Republic Act No. 10068). An Act providing for the development and promotion of organic agriculture in the Philippines and for other purposes. Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 This Act declares that the policy of the State shall be to promote, propagate, develop further and implement the practice of organic agriculture in the Philippines in order to enrich the fertility of the soil, increase farm productivity, reduce pollution and destruction of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (RA 9003) This Act makes provision for the efficient solid waste management, for the volume reduction of the waste, its environment friendly disposal, composting, recycling, re-use, recovery, green charcoal process; for the collection, treatment and disposal in environmentally sound solid waste management facilities whereas it shall be possible to correctly dispose the proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment and disposal of solid waste. It also concerns the protection of groundwater from pollution. Department of Agriculture (DA) The Department of Agriculture is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for the promotion of agricultural and fisheries development and growth. Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) I t i s t h e exe c u t i v e d e p a r t m e n t o f t h e P h i l i p p i n e government responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the country’s environment in natural resources, specifically forest and grazing lands, mineral resources, including those in reservation and watershed areas, and lands of the public domain, as well as the licensing and regulation of all natural resources as may be provided for by law in order to ensure equitable sharing of the benefits derived therefrom for the welfare of the present and future generations of Filipinos. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) It serves as the primary coordinative, promotive, facilitative, and regulatory arm of government for the country’s trade, industry, and investment activities. Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) It is one of the executive departments of the Philippine government mandated to formulate policies, implement programs and services, and serve as the policy-coordinating arm of the Executive Branch in the field of labor and employment. It is tasked with the enforcement of the provisions of the Labor Code. Department of Science and Technology (DOST) It is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for the coordination of science and technology-related projects in the Philippines and to formulate policies and projects in the fields of science and technology in support of national development. Technical Education and Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) It is the government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development (TESDA) in the Philippines.
