**LESSON 2.** **FUNDAMENTAL BODY MOVEMENTS** **3.1. Loco-motor movements** The body move or travels through space from one place to another place such as: 1. **Walk** -- is transfer of weight from one foot to the other, it is usually the heals touches first. 2. **Jump** - springing both feet into the air. 3. **Run** - Is the same as walk, however the body is propelled into the air and suspended between run steps. 4. **Hop** -- Jumping on one foot and landed with both feet. 5. Leap- is to spring free with exerting significant muscular energy or utilizing external force to propel the body forcefully. 6. **Skip** -- moves forward by alternately hopping or landing on the other foot. It characterized like a playful motion. 7. **Gallop**- Human galloping is a combination of a step and a leap or skip. One-foot steps forward while the other foot follows by quickly catching up, creating a rhythmic pattern. 8. **Slide**- it is done by gliding the foot forward or sideward followed by the other foot alternately **3.2. Non-locomotor movement** A body movement that moves in place, it is not necessary to travels spaces such as: 1. **Swing**- swaying motion of specific body part in 180 degrees circular body motion like hips, head, arms and etc. 2. **Twist**- it refers rotating body parts around an axis while the base stays stationary, examples are neck, waist and etc. 3. **Turn**- it refers to the rotational motion of the body around its axis or specific joint. 4. **Shake** -- a body part moves up and down or forward and backward in short or quick movement. 5. **Bend**- a body part changes from straight to curved or decreasing the angle of two entities. 6. **Stretch** -- is the opposite of bending it is straightening your body part or increasing the angle of the two entities. 7. **Wiggle**- Wiggling means moving something from side to side, shaking back and forth in fast or small motion. 8. **Rock or Sway** -- it moves gently side by side, forward and backward.
