Types of communication protocol:  MPI protocol  Profibus protocol  Profinet protocol or Ethernet protocol Communication  MPI protocol It is used for connecting the stations programming (PC or personal computer), operator consoles, and other devices in the SIMATIC family. This technology has inspired the development of protocol Profibus. The MPI is based on the standard EIA- 485 (formerly RS-485) and works with a speed from 187.5 kBd to 12 MBd. Can be used for 32 devices. Communication  MPI protocol Communication  Profibus protocol (Process Field Bus) is a standard for fieldbus communication in automation technology and was first promoted in 1989. uses two core screened cable with a violet sheath, and runs at speeds between 9.6 kbit/s and 12 Mbit/s. {1.5MBs} Can be used for 128 devices. Communication  Profinet protocol uses ethernet cable with a violet sheath, and runs at speeds between 10MBs to 100MBs. Can be used for infinity number of devices. 65
