- Learning is offsetting the forgetting - "i need to learn this, i need to learn this" voluntarily force yourself to focus at repeating intervals to keep constant focus - schedule time to study daily alone, with 0 distractions - 10 minute daily meditation increases concentration and memory retention - Teach peers what you've learnt (Feynman technique) - Motivation for studying - studying is directly proportional to my quality of life (more studying more successful, less studying less successful) - loving what your learning can be the motivation - Effort & friction is directly proportional to learning effectiveness - Testing is the best way to learn, do questions, get GPT to make questions, get an AI testing app to test off notes. *Testing is only effective if you find out the answers after (what was right/wrong)* 2 to 3 times of testing per material is optimal - After learning material test yourself on it as soon as possible; Test optimally on the same day or the day after learning new material, halve the amount of forgetting (improves retention by 50%) - Flashcards - Best test questions: open ended, short answer, very minimal prompt (not multiple choice that is familiarity/recognition of material not the retention of material) - implement gap effects, pauses in-between being exposed to new material - emotional/stressful experiences are retained much easier (be excited about the material as you are exposed to it) - drink coffee *after* morning learning to boost memory consolidation - drink coffee *before* tests to improve focus and concentration - Eggs, greek yoghurt, bananas, blueberries & apples, walnuts & dark chocolate & kiwi are best to eat before a test (my breakfast), but avoid sugary foods so the dark chocolate should be no sugar optimally - drink water in the hours leading up to the test to ensure proper brain hydration - coffee should be taken 45 minutes before the test along with a small snack (banana, walnutes, apple, piece of dark chocolate)
