There are often complex links between the living (biotic) components e.g plants and animals and non- living (abiotic) components e.g climate, soil and water Biomes - Large, geographically defined regions with similar climate and vegetation An abiotic factor is a non- living part of an ecosystem that shapes its environment e.g temperature, light and water. A biotic factor is a living organism that shapes its environment e.g aquatic life, fish, amphibians and algae.
