Rejuvenation Rejuvenation/Wrinkles Rejuvenation • As we age, our collagen production slows down which leads to wrinkles and sagging skin. Although every IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment will probably produce a noticeable improvement to the texture and plumpness of the skin, the rejuvenation setting with a deeper wavelength such as the 510,560,610,640, its one of the best for pinpointing collagen stimulation. • 4-6 treatments, 2-3 weeks apart. • Great paired with micro/peeling and led light therapy Ageing process •Although the ageing of our skin is a complex biological process there are two main causes: chronological ageing - the effect of time on our bodies; and photo-ageing - the effect of the sun's harmful rays. As we grow older, the amount of collagen, the major supporting protein of the body, diminishes. In addition, the skin becomes less flexible. • This means that our skin becomes drier and thinner as the body's natural regeneration process slows down, and the skin slowly loses its ability to retain moisture. •These effects are further compounded by the harmful UVA and UVB rays in sunlight. •These damage the skin by producing enzymes that break down the skin's supportive structure and so prevent the creation of new collagen. Wrinkles • Fine superficial wrinkles in the skin are the result of a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic aging processes that affect the skin with the passage of time. • Intrinsic aging results in the gradual reduction of extracellular matrix proteins, such as collagen and hyaluronic acids, in the dermis due to a chronological senescence( biological aging ) of dermal fibroblasts. • Extrinsic aging of the skin is mainly the result of long-term exposure to UV radiation from the sun, which leads to further breakdown of collagen fibres by oxygen radicals. • The overall result is a decrease in dermal structural support and volume, leading to a reduction in skin elasticity, thereby causing the overlying redundant epidermis to wrinkle. How IPL treats for rejuvenation/wrinkles • Heating collagen fibres with high intensity light energy leads to their contracture. This may account for the textural change described in skin treated with IPL. •The thermal stimulation of dermal fibroblasts by the higher wavelengths within the IPL spectrum has been shown to result in increased synthesis of extracellular matrix proteins, leading to at least partial replacement of the lost dermal volume. • Treatments with wavelengths from 510-640 nm produce epidermal thickening, a decrease in horny plugs, new rete ridge formation, (epidermal thickenings that extend downward between dermal papillae), a decrease in proportion of degenerated elastic fibres, and new dermal collagen formation.
