The reaction towards the breaking of laws CRIMINOLOGY DEFINED BY R.A. 11131F LEGAL DEFINITION OF CRIMINOLOGY UNDER THE PHILIPPINE CRIMINOLOGY PROFESSION ACT OF 2018 (R.A. 11131) CRIMINOLOGY- refers to scientific study of crimes, criminals, and victims, it also deals with the prevention, and solution of crime. REGISTERED CRIMINOLOGIST Any person who is a graduate of the degree of Criminology, who has passed the examination for Criminologists and is registered as such by the Board of Examiners of Professional Regulation Commission (R.A. 6506). Refers to a natural person who holds a valid certificate of registration and an updated professional identification card as criminologist issued by the board and commission pursuant to R.A. 11131. NATURE OF CRIMINOLOGY – "S.A.N.D" 1. Criminology as a Social Science - Defined as a branch of science that studies the society and human behavior in it. Criminology is a social science because it studies crime as a social phenomenon. 2. Criminology as an Applied Science - Defined as the application of scientific knowledge transferred into a physical environment. 3. Criminology as Nationalistic - The study of crime must always be in relation with the existing criminal law with in the territory. 4. Criminology is Dynamic - Criminology changes as social condition changes. PRINCIPAL DIVISIONS OF CRIMINOLOGY CRIMINAL ETIOLOGY - The scientific analysis of the causes of crimes SOCIOLOGY OF LAW - The study of law and application. PENOLOGY OR CORRECTION - The study that deals with the punishment and the treatment of criminals Other fields of Studies related to Criminology: Criminal Demography- study of the correlation of between criminality and population. Criminal Epidiomology- study of the connection environmental and criminality. Criminal Ecology- study of the criminality in relation to the spatial distribution in a community. Criminal Physical Anthropology - study of criminality in relation to physical constitution of men. Criminal Psychiatry - study of human mind in relation to criminality.
