WHY WAS SLAVERY ABOLISHED Presented by : Vishnu And Samantha WHICH COUNTRIES IN THE ATLANTIC ABOLISHED THE SLAVE TRADE EARLY? WHICH COUNTRIES ABOLISHED SLAVERY EARLY? WHICH COUNTRIES ABOLISHED IT LATE? Denmark made it illegal for its citizens to participate in the Atlantic slave trade. In 1807-1808 then United states and Britain outlawed slave trade the Independent Haiti became the first country in the Americas to abolish slavery in 1804. The United States would not end slavery until after the Civil War ended in 1865 HOW MIGHT CAPITALISM HAVE HELPED END SLAVERY? HOW DID THIS CONNECT TO THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION DURING THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION Capitalism promoted economic efficiency and innovation, aiding the end of slavery. The Industrial Revolution increased the profitability of factory production over slave-based agriculture. 1 Capitalists favored flexible, skilled workers who could adapt to new technologies. Slavery became increasingly inefficient within the capitalist economy. Capitalist ideals of individual rights and free markets aligned with abolitionist arguments. These ideals emphasized that all individuals should be free to sell their labor. The shift in economic priorities and ideologies made slavery less viable and more outdated. HOW MIGHT CHANGING MORALITY HELPED END SLAVERY? HOW DID THIS CONNECT TO THE TRANSFORMATIONS IN HUMAN COMMUNITIES CAUSED BY THE ENLIGHTENMENT AND CHANGES IN RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL COMMUNITIES? the Enlightenment promoted individual freedom and questioned the morality of slavery like it was evil and immoral. Abolitionists, including Christians, reconsidered Biblical texts to argue against slavery. The Enlightenment idea shaped different viewpoints on slavery by promoting a disapproval of traditional views of faith. Both economic and right ideas, influenced by Enlightenment values, contributed for the abolition movement. HOW MIGHT NETWORKS OF AFRICAN AND DESCENDANTS OF AFRICANS HAVE HELPED END SLAVERY Networks of Africans and their descendants were key in ending slavery. Maroon communities and slave revolts, like the Haitian Revolution, directly challenged the system. Intellectuals such as Olaudah Equiano influenced abolitionist movements. Religious and cultural networks preserved African identity and fostered solidarity. Legal challenges and economic resistance weakened the institution of slavery. Transnational connections, including Pan-Africanism, supported the abolition movement. Diasporic alliances and transatlantic abolitionist networks amplified efforts globally. These combined efforts were pivotal in the global abolition of slavery. DOES THE AUTHOR ARGUE THAT SLAVERY ACTUALLY ENDED WHEN IT BECAME ILLEGAL? Slavery continues in some forms in the Islamic World, continued to operate 4 outside of the law. South Asia's class systems inflict harsh work with no escape. Racist laws in the U.S. continue to oppress formerly enslaved. Freed black people often work in sharecropping(agriculture), resembling slave labor. WHAT ARE THE 3 MAIN IMPORTANT DETAILS The three main important details is, Olaudah Equiano the man who abolished slavery another important point is when Britain had the world’s largest slave-trading industry in 1790's, and also another point is when Cuba and Mexico decided to end slavery and while America after the civil war, didn’t want to end it so they smuggled enslaved people illegally. So these are the 3 important points according to me. THANK YOU
