Some macrofossils such as ammonite and rugose coral are found in a specific age. Ammonites are solely found on Jurassic Period while the rugose coral Gsheila sp. is found in Carboniferous period which is likely the oldest fossil in the Philippines based on the Index Fossils of the Philippines. Some microfossils can also be found in between Permian and Triassic period such as conodonts and radiolarian which can be found in Palawan.
