Granule Suggested This one is about cough due to rebellious Lung Qi and Phlegm Daily Amount About.5-1 gram Bensky pg 444 f f PI PA YE - ERIOBOTRYAE FOLIUM - LOQUAT LEAF Taste Temperature Channels Dosage Bitter Neutral Lung, Stomach 6-15 grams Standout directs Qi downward to stop cough and alleviate nausea and Characteristic vomiting Cautions and Cx for cough or vomiting due to cold - be careful of RAW loquat Contraindications leaf as the hairs can cause a lot of irritation - best to bag it Actions and Indications Transforms phlegm, clears Lung Heat, redirects Lung Qi downward - mainly for Lung dryness patterns with cough and wheezing Harmonizes the Stomach, clears Stomach Heat, and redirects Stomach Qi downward for Stomach Heat related nausea, vomiting, hiccup, and belching this herb has tiny little hairs or fuzz on the leaves and should be put FYI in a gauze bag or use the prepared version Dan Pi Pa Ye that has Granule Suggested been adequately cleaned. There is also Mi Zhi Pi Ya Ye and Jiang Zhi Daily Amount Pi Pa Ye that are prepared with honey or ginger juice respectively - About 1-1.5 gram honey prepared is better for moistening and ginger prepared makes it warming to be used for cold cough or nausea GUA LOU PI - TRICHOSANTHIS PERICARPIUM VS BAI BU - STEMONAE RADIX Taste Temperature Channels Dosage Sweet, Bitter Slightly Warm Lung 3 -9 g Standout sends Qi downward to treat chronic and de icient coughs and Characteristic kills parasites ( leas and lice) Cautions and CI for Spleen Xu loose stools Contraindications Actions and Indications Moistens the Lungs and stops cough - for acute and chronic cough, especially useful for cough from de iciency - Lung Qi and Yin Xu - also it can help treat TB Expels parasites and kills lice - applied topically as a tincture or decoction for lice or leas, douche/wash for bacterial vaginosis, enema for pinworm This herb is typically prepared in honey to help prevent it from causing respiratory issues in about 20-30% of cases from the FYI unprepared root.
