Hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer system that can been seen and touched. These comprise the components of the system such as the computer itself, input, output and storage devices. The system unit, also known as a “tower“, “box” or “chassis,” is the main part of a desktop computer comprising the case and internal components such as the motherboard, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Random Access Memory (RAM) and other internal parts. The System Unit is sometimes loosely referred to as the CPU. The CPU is the brain of the computer system and is where most of the instructions and calculations are carried out. The CPU is often referred to simply as the processor. This is any hardware device connected to and controlled by the Central Processing Unit (CPU). Peripherals include keyboards, mice, monitors, printer and speakers.
