Summary
This paper examines men's reactions to simulated sexual rejection by a woman. It uses a dating simulation to explore the impact of hostile masculinity, impersonal sexual attitudes, and the man's perceived hostility toward the woman, on aggressive responses. The study suggests that both casual sex attitudes and hostility perceptions significantly affect the aggression levels.

Sexual dominance and casual sex attitude have a positive effect on sexual aggression after rejection 2. Sexual aggression after being rejected strongly depends on the hostile perception of the woman (moderator) 📺 🗣 ❌ 🍻 Measurement 💋 Nelson’s (1979) 8–item scale on sexual dominance motivation (representing hostile masculinity) Hendrick et al.’s (2006) The Sexual Permissiveness Scale (representing positive attitudes about casual sex) hostile perception questionnaire Results (see Table 2 in original paper) no significant main effects significant interaction effect of casual sex attitude and hostile perception of the woman on the aggressive response 💦 77 men (18-29 years old) Four dates 2D date simulation 1st person mode (ego perspective) Rejection responses were programmed as a result of certain selected actions by the man Limitations Video game character → bias Conditions not equal → Choice of participants lead to dierent experiences Small sample size small sample Dating pre-experience not accounted Hostile perception measured after rejection → justification bias Additional topics sexuality and psychology underrepresented questionnable validity of the methods dealing with rejection - a common problem deficite in education EARLY ADULTHOOD - DATING & REJECTION
