As one of Israelites leader who succeeded Moses and led the Hebrews to the promised land. PREPARATION OF THE PEOPLE 1.) Preparation for service: - Jesus appointed people to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to prepare God's people for service. 2.) Preparation to meet God: - To meet God, one must be prepared with an undivided heart and mind, and not allow anything to distract them. 3.) Preparation by God: - God prepares people from the inside out during a time of preparation. 4.) Preparation for the Lord: - John the baptist was sent to prepare a people to prepared for the Lord. 5.) Heaven for prepared people: - John 14:1-6 says, "Heaven is Prepared place for Prepared people". CONQUEST OF THE LAND In the bible , the conquest of Canaan was the Israelites' entry in to Promised Land after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. The story of the conquest is told in the Old testaments book of Joshua: 1.) God's promise: - God promised Abraham that his descendants would own conquer the land of canaan. 2.) The Canaanites: - Were described as morally corrupt and unjust, especially in their treatment of the vulnerable. 3.) The Conquest: - The Israelites, led by Joshua, conquered the canaanites and redistributed the land to the twelve tribes of Israel. The conquest included the cities of Jericho anf the five amorite kings, and confederacy of kings in northern half of Canaan. 4.) The Covenant - The book ends with a covenant, which is a promise made between God and God's people. DIVISION OF THE LAND It refers to the allocation of the Promised Land to the tribes of Israel after they entered Canaan, as described primarily in the book of Joshua and Numbers in the old testaments. TRIBES AND INHERITANCES: JUDAH: - Received the largest portion, located in the south. EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH: - Received significant portions in the central and northern regions. Manasseh's territory was split in two parts, east and west of the Jordan river. BENJAMIN: - Received a small but central area between Judah and Ephraim. Levitis: - Levites did not received a specific territorial inheritance but were allocated cities scattered throughout the other tribes, territories, where they served in religious roles. Transjordan Tribes: Ø SIMEON, ZEBULUN, ISSACHAR, ASHER, NAPHTALI and DAN: - Received various portions in the different regions, mostly in the northern and western parts of the land. TRANSJORDAN TRIBES: Before crossing the Jordan river, Reuben, Gad and half the tribe of Manasseh were given land on the eastern side of the Jordan river, often called the Transjordan are, after they agreed to help the others tribes conquer Canaan. CITIES OF REFUGE AND LEVITE CITIES: The Levites were given 48 cities throughout Israel, six of which were designated as cities of refuge, where someone who accidentally committed manslaughter could flee to avoid retribution (Numbers 35:9-34).
