WHAT IS COMMUNICATION** Communication is the sending and receiving of information and can be one-on-one or between groups of people and can be face-to-face or through communication devices. * "**GREAT COMMUNICATION BEGINS WITH A CONNECTION.**" \- OPRAH WINFREY ## II\. COMMUNICATION IN ENGINEERING As an Engineer, we use communication to connect with our clients and colleagues in the Engineering industry. ## A\. HOW TO COMMUNICATE AS AN ENGINEER 1. **Know your Audience** - Understanding who you're speaking to is the first step to effective communication. 2. **Simplify Concepts** - Simplify without dumbing down. Start with a broad overview before diving into the specifics. Use everyday language and avoid acronyms unless they're well-known or you've explained them. 3. **Story telling approach** - Humans are naturally drawn to stories, and you can use this to your advantage. Frame your engineering challenges and solutions as a narrative with a clear beginning, middle, and end. 4. **Be Enthusiastic** - Your passion for mechanical engineering can be infectious, so let it show! Enthusiasm breeds enthusiasm; when you're excited about your subject, your audience is more likely to be engaged. 5. **Practice makes perfect** - No one becomes an outstanding communicator overnight; it takes practice. Rehearse your presentations, refine your writing, and seek feedback. 6. **Visual Aids** - Can clarify complex systems and processes that words alone might fail to convey. Use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings, prototypes, or simulations to give a concrete shape to your ideas. ## III\. IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION IN ENGINEERING Clear and concise communication fosters trust, enhances client satisfaction, and leads to successful project outcomes. ## A\. IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION 1. Become more professional at work to move forward in the working world. 2. Increases employee engagement and the overall effectiveness of a team. 3. They’ll be more enthused to collaborate. As a result, the strong unit that they create makes the workplace more enjoyable, and they’ll be eager to perform well so they don’t let their teammates down. ## **THANKS FOR LISTENING!!** ## **MEMBERS:** * GARCIA, IVAN JOSHUE JAMES * GUTTIEREZ, MARK * ONDIZ, NOVEN JANE * NAVARRO PRINCE DHAENIEL ## **Sources:** * https://www.careeraddict.com/the-importance-of-effective-communication-in-the-workplace * https://online.kettering.edu/news/communication-important-engineers#:~:text=Engineers%20must%20communicate%20effectively%20wi,leads%20to%20successful%20project%20outcomes. * https://wac.colostate.edu/repository/writing/guides/engineer/
