Experion PKS System Architecture 07 February 2024 14:40 The Experion server is the primary node of an Experion PKS system. The server contains supervisory control functions, the Experion Global Data infrastructure, and is optionally redundant. The server supports object-oriented graphical tools such as Control Builder and HMlWeb Display Builder, and acts as the central repository for all system data. It also runs all the core system functions, including: Data acquisition and processing Alarm and event management, History collection, archiving and trending, Reporting subsystem, and Sign-on security The server hosts the real-time database which contains the configuration of all components, including the controllers and stations. Typical operator information like process data, alarms, events, system status, trends, logs, and history is collected, and maintained on the Experion Server. This information is provided to the Experion Stations and their associated user displays. The Experion Station is the user interface to the process. Operators use standard and user created custom displays to monitor and manage the process and system nodes. It is available in Honeywell's ICON series console furniture and in a desktop form. Multi-display having up to 4 monitors, purposebuilt operator keyboards, and touch screens are supported. Different Experion Station types are available to meet user needs and can be used together on a system in any combination. EPKS L1 P2 Page 1 Fault Tolerant Ethernet or FTE is the industrial control network of Experion PKS. It is Honeywell's proprietary communication architecture (hardware and software) based on standard Ethernet. FTE ensures the performance, determinism, and security required for industrial control applications. It connects clusters or groups of nodes such as servers and stations and provides multiple communication paths between these nodes so the network can tolerate single as well as multiple faults. EPKS L1 P2 Page 2 CNIOO is a modular, powerful and scalable system capable of flexible 10 assignment, remote automation, and control applications. In 10 HIVE, CNIOOs are used as HIVE to make 10 data available on the FTE network and accessible by C300 controllers. This allows any C300 to use 10 data from any IOM connected to the CNIOO's IOLINK. Experion server and console station can directly access CNIOO's 10 channel. Optionally CN 100 can act as a CEE controller to control local IOS and may have an 10 HIVE connection with C300. Safety Manager minimizes incidents, maximizes production uptime, reduces the cost of compliance and manages plant safety. It integrates process safety data, applications, system diagnostics and critical control strategies, and safety applications in a fully redundant architecture. In addition, Safety Manager enables compliance with plant safety standards, better system reliability, and increased process uptime that lead to a safe production environment and operational savings. ESVT server is used for a specific purpose. In addition to being a fully functional Experion Server it has an LCN. This is an ESVT, Experion Server with TPS. The LCN connection with this server is being used to bring in the LCN information into the Experion network EPKS L1 P2 Page 3 used to bring in the LCN information into the Experion network SCADA controllers are both by and entities. The manufacturer supplies a configuration tool to create the controller database. Experion PKS is then used to create a mapping database for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. Hence, these controllers are known as SCADA controllers. Experion PKS also comprises of site-specific components depending on the installation needs. Click each tab to learn more about the component Using the Remote Engineering and Station Server node, users can securely access the Station application and the Experion Configuration tool, i.e. the Configuration Studio from a remote location. Users can access from remote devices such as desktop, laptop, and tablet that have no Experion Station or related components installed. It includes access to alarms, trends, custom graphics, system displays, faceplates, group displays and all other Experion Flex Station functions. Wireless solutions from Experion PKS provide remote access to the process control network through mobile computing devices via the OneWireless Network. Users are provided with a mobile station solution. It enables maintenance personnel to view and respond to live information from an Experion system even when are away from a station. EPKS L1 P2 Page 5 The Digital Video Manager or DVM is a software which uses standard network-type cameras, and its goal is to supply live video to the redundant servers. An operator at a Station can call up a graphic to have a live window into something happening in the process. The Digital Video Manager is efficient in the supply of live video to the server and makes optimal use of available bandwidth by supplying feed intermittently. The DVM can be configured to supply video either according to time or motion detection. It is designed with the Experion Server to optimize communication. The PMD Controller is an open fieldbus controller used in Process, Machinery, and Drives technology, that is, PMD technology to control fieldbus-based processes and process equipment. The PMD Controller includes all the properties required for the control of continuous and batch processes, machines, and stand-alone drives and line drives. Note that the PMD controller is used specifically for the Paper and Pulp industry. EPKS L1 P2 Page 6
