Evidence 3 By. Ivana Amezcua Globalization Globalization refers to the world's increasing interconnectedness through the exchange of goods, services, culture, ideas, and technology. Positive Influences Developed Countries: Gain access to new markets, higher profits, and cheaper labor. Innovations are shared globally, boosting technological and cultural exchanges. Developing Countries: Opportunities for economic growth through foreign investment, job creation, and access to advanced technology. Negative Influences Developed Countries: Loss of domestic jobs to cheaper labor markets, widening inequality between corporations and workers. Developing Countries: Dependency on developed economies, exploitation of natural resources, and challenges to local cultures. Trade Trade involves the exchange of goods and services between countries or regions and is essential for economic development and globalization. World Trade Organization (WTO) Established: January 1, 1995, replacing the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). Objectives: Promote free trade by reducing trade barriers, ensuring fair trade practices, resolving trade disputes, and fostering economic growth. Rule Establishment: Based on negotiations among member countries, known as trade rounds. Membership: Currently, 164 countries. Importance: The WTO ensures global trade flows smoothly, predictably, and freely. By setting common rules, it minimizes trade conflicts and promotes cooperation among nations. Trade The Digital Revolution The digital revolution refers to the transformation brought by digital technology, such as computers, the internet, and mobile devices, which started in the late 20th century. Advantages Accessibility: Access to information, education, and services is easier and faster. Economic Growth: New industries like e-commerce, digital marketing, and fintech have emerged. Social Connectivity: People can connect globally, fostering cultural exchange. Disadvantages Digital Divide: Inequality between those with and without access to technology. Privacy Concerns: Increased surveillance and data breaches. Job Disruption: Automation threatens traditional jobs. Terrorism Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation to achieve political, ideological, or religious goals. Technology’s Role in Terrorism Benefits: Recruitment: Terrorist groups use social media to recruit members and spread propaganda. Coordination: Encryption and digital tools enable secure communication. Funding: Digital platforms and cryptocurrencies facilitate fundraising. Drawbacks: Counter-Terrorism: Advanced technology aids law enforcement in tracking and combating terrorism. Exposure: Digital footprints make it easier to identify and intercept threats. Conclusion Technology is a double-edged sword in the fight against terrorism. While it facilitates terror activities, it also strengthens the tools for prevention and response. Globalization and the digital revolution play pivotal roles in shaping modern trade and societal structures, but their impacts depend on equitable distribution of their benefits. Thank You!
