There are some red flags to look at.. • Photo. Bots and fakes often don’t put any pictures on their avatars or just use photos of celebrities, cartoon characters, or something abstract. • Username. Basically, they look too spammy and artificial. It might be a meaningless jumble of letters or combinations of letters and numbers. In a word, a real person is unlikely to choose such a username for his account. • Mass character. Fake accounts are following lots of people and are followed by similar (artificial) accounts. Usually, the number of followers can be more than a thousand. • Lack of personal data. No content in Instagram Stories and feed, no information in BIO, no photos in “Tagged”. https://trendhero.io/blog/bought -instagram -followers/ 83.7K followers…. This is one of them Fake Accounts • People create additional accounts so they can follow themselves and appear to have more people “liking” and “following” them. • Can be are hacked accounts. These accounts belong to real people but were stolen/hacked. This makes it seem that real people are following an account, when really the individual has no idea. Contest to Increase Followers • Followed accounts for the chance to win a prize. • These are not true followers. The followers may not even know what content that account is trying to market, but they really want to win the 50” screen TV. • LIKE and SHARE!!! • Whenever you are told to follow these 20 accounts for a chance to win… 368K Followers Who are these people we are following anyway? • What school did they go to? • What does their google search say? • Have they been a guest speaker anywhere? • Do they end up on any big platform? • AAPD • ACD • ICD • Etc … Analyze the work……. How many likes there are in comparison to % of followers • Likes on post - if someone has thousands of followers but images and videos have much fewer likes or views - that should be a red flag. • Videos - the number of views should be 2 -3 times more than the number of likes. Look at the comments being made • If the comments are being made by bots it can be something like: • “I lost 14 lbs in just 10 weeks by etc …” • Are the accounts responding to comments • Look to see if the account holder is talking to people in the comments. • Are the other followers commenting? • Does the discussion follow or relate to the post. Your Assignment • Find a video that speaks to you. • A procedure you already learnt about or one you are looking forward to learning about. • Look them up • Who is this person? • Where were they trained? • A legitimate school? • Where do they work now? • Identify if their followers are actually followers. • Look at what they are posting as content • Look beyond the field of view • Critique the good and the bad • Look a the activity of the content • How many likes there are in comparison to % of followers • Look at the comments being made • Is there a conversation among the poster and the followers? • Are they an active account? When is it due? • Presentations begin 4/18 • There are 20 groups to be posted later this week • 5 people per group • Each member had to talk for a minimum of 1 minute • Each member needs to be able to answer any question I ask References • https://follows.com/blog/2017/10/check -instagram -followers - fake • https://trendhero.io/blog/bought -instagram -followers • https://blog.hootsuite.com/buy -instagram -followers - experimentc/
