This change affects only order-specific questions configured at the ingredient level. 7 Order-specific questions attached to ingredients don't appear in the Order Composer before they're selected. After the clinician selects cefazolin and dianeal low Ca/D1.5%, order-specific questions for those ingredients appear. 8 Ordering Department Appears in Medication Management and the Medications Activity Clinicians can now quickly see where a medication was most recently modified by adding the new Ordering Department and Ordering Location columns in the Medication Management section and the Medications activity. Because the Ordering Department column provides the most specific details of a medication's last modification, it's available for selection by default. 9 See More Information When Previewing SmartSets, Order Sets, and Panels What's Changed » When clinicians preview a SmartSet, Order Set, or panel, they now see more information to ensure the selected SmartSet includes what they need. Additional information appears when previewing a SmartSet outside of a clinical context to help you better understand what clinicians see when they order it. You can also now specify a custom report for SmartGroups to ensure clinicians see the most relevant information.. Example of an updated preview report for a pediatric tibia/fibia fracture SmartSet 10 More Targeted Dextrose Concentration Warnings When Clinicians Order TPNs Quick Win What's Changed » When a clinician selects amino acids and dextrose amounts for a TPN they’re ordering, the system compares the selected amino acid and dextrose amounts to the most similar calcium phosphate solubility curve it finds based on manufacturer solubility data configured at the system or facility level. » When the dextrose concentration of the ordered TPN doesn’t match the selected curve’s dextrose concentration closely enough, the clinician sees a dextrose concentration warning to let them know the solubility curve might not be accurate for the TPN, and they need to use their clinical judgment about whether harmful precipitates might form. Part of this clinical judgement is considering the ratio of calcium and phosphorous in the TPN. 11 Ambulatory Pharmacy Ingalls Only Patients Can Send In Basket Messages to Pharmacy Staff PRN New Feature What's Changed Patients can now send a message using MyChart instead of calling the pharmacy when they have a question about their medication. Pharmacists and technicians can review patient messages in In Basket and send answers back to the patient. Allowing patients to send messages to the pharmacy through MyChart can help: Patients take their medications appropriately, particularly if they have a condition like hearing impairment or social anxiet y, which might prevent them from otherwise asking questions in person or over the phone. Pharmacy users complete workflows with fewer interruptions from ringing phones. Instead, pharmacy staff can look at the messa ges when they're ready, without the patient sitting on hold. Patients can go to the Medications page in MyChart and click or tap Message pharmacy next to the medication. A window appears where the patient can compose the message, the same as other messaging workflows. Because the patient selected Message pharmacy from the medication they have a question about, the system automatically selects new message, links the message to the prescription, and sets the recipient to the pharmacy associated with the prescription, so the patient doesn't need to do anything else to get their question to the right place. When a patient clicks or taps Message pharmacy, a window appears where they can compose the message 13 Patients Can Send In Basket Messages to New Pharmacy Staff PRN Feature What’s Changed » To save space on mobile devices and direct patients toward sending a message, when a patient accesses MyChart from a mobile device, they can now click the phone number in the Pharmacy Details section to call the pharmacy. Previously, there was a separate button for Call Pharmacy. To see this feature on the MyChart mobile app, patients must update the app to version 10.6. From the Pharmacy Details section, patients can click the pharmacy's phone number to call the pharmacy or Message pharmacy to compose a message. 14 Patients Can Send In Basket Messages to Pharmacy Staff PRN New Feature What’s changed » From the Pharmacy Details section, patients can click the pharmacy's phone number to call the pharmacy or Message pharmacy to compose a message. Pharmacy staff can answer patient questions from In Basket. 15 Ambulatory Pharmacist / Pharmacy Technician Quickly Identify Duplicates by Sorting by Generic Medication Name Quick Win What’s Changed » Check the Show generic box in the patient's Med Profile to see the generic name as a prefix for each medication while sorting on a different column, making it easier to spot duplicates in the medication list. The Show generic checkbox is located next to the medication column title in the Med Profile. 17 Use PCN or Partial Plan Name When Searching for Patient Coverages What's Changed » Searching for personal coverages is now easier with more search criteria. When pharmacists or technicians add a new personal coverage in Willow Ambulatory, they can now search using the Processor Control Number (PCN) or a partial name of the plan. The Coverage Search window showing that you can search using the Processor Control Number (PCN) 18 Reconcile Ended Orders of Long-Term Medications When Managing Refills in Willow Ambulatory Time Saver What's Changed » When pharmacy users mark a medication as long-term manually or by enrolling it in the automatic refill request program, current prescriptions for that medication remain active on the patient's medication list even after those prescriptions end. Keeping current prescriptions for that medication active lets the patient and clinicians know that the patient should continue taking that medication even after current prescriptions for it end. » Previously, the system also included prescriptions that ended before the medication was marked long-term, causing outdated prescriptions to reappear on the patient's medication list. These outdated prescriptions would appear in places such as future After Visit Summaries and in MyChart, making it difficult for patients to tell which of their prescriptions they should take. To remove outdated prescriptions from the patient's medication list, pharmacy staff needed to manually discontinue each ended order one by one. » To ensure patients and pharmacy staff see the right medications on the patient's medication list, when a pharmacy user marks a medication as long-term or enrolls it in the automatic refill request program, ended orders of that medication are automatically discontinued, unless the pharmacy user chooses not to. Pharmacy users can now decide and confirm whether ended long-term medication orders are automatically discontinued or stay active on the patient's medication list when they manage refills in Willow Ambulatory. When they mark a certain medication order as long -term or enroll it in the automatic refill request program, they now see two new options for ended orders: » If the order they marked as long-term is ended, Include as current medication is selected by default, so that order is now considered active. » For all other ended orders of the same medication, Leave inactive is selected by default, which automatically discontinues the orders. Review Next Slide 19 Keep the Patient's Med List Tidy Time Saver When you manually mark an ended medication as long-term or enroll the medication in an automatic refill program, and the patient has multiple ended orders for the medication, you can now indicate which is the current active order and automatically discontinue the rest, keeping the patient's medication list accurate and saving you clicks. 20 Hover to Discover Patient Document and Order Record Information in Willow Ambulatory What's Changed » Pharmacists and technicians can now see information about patient documents and prescription order records in two new hover bubbles in Willow Ambulatory, saving them clicks when they need to review this information. » Pharmacists and technicians can now see patient document information, such as the description, file type, import date, and image of the document, by hovering over the name of the document in the Patient activity, similar to the way they can see this information in the Chart Search activity in Hyperspace. Patient document information appears when users hover over the document name in the Patient activity. 21 Hover to Discover Patient Document and Order Record Information in Willow Ambulatory What’s Changed » Pharmacists and technicians can also now see prescription information like dispense quantity, refills, last dispense, pharmacy, order date, and authorizing provider by hovering over the prescription number in the Point of Sale activity, work queues, and work requests, similar to the way they can see this information by hovering over medications in the SnapShot report. Prescription information appears when users hover over the prescription number in the Point of Sale activity or Work Requests view 22 Continue Filling with Fewer Interruptions New What’s Changed Workflow » When the discrete dose, route, and frequency match between the original and reordered prescriptions, but the clinician made changes to clinically meaningful items such as the refill or dispense quantity, the prescriptions are considered clinically s imilar. When the prescription is reordered without any changes, the prescriptions are considered clinically equivalent. » Sometimes, there's a discrepancy between the source prescription and the reorder that requires clinical review before you can continue filling a clinically equivalent or similar prescription. To streamline your workflow, when you continue filling a prescription that needs review, a window appears where a pharmacists can review the change and enter their credentials, without logging you out. Continue Filling window with message about another user needing to enter credentials to continue the fill 23 Approve Continuing Fills New What’s Changed Workflow » When the discrete dose, route, and frequency match between the original and reordered prescriptions, but the clinician made changes to clinically meaningful items such as the refill or dispense quantity, the prescriptions are considered clinically s imilar. When the prescription is reordered without any changes, the prescriptions are considered clinically equivalent. » Depending on their credentials, staff might need authorization to continue a fill anytime it is reordered, or only if the reorder is similar but not equivalent. When they attempt to continue the fill, a window appears prompting them to have an authorized user review the order. You can compare the information between the original and reorder, then enter your credentials, to confirm they should continue filling the order as-is. Continue Filling window with message about another user needing to enter credentials to continue the fill 24 Override Next Fill Due Date for Multiple New Prescriptions at Once Feature What's Changed » Pharmacists and technicians can now override the next fill due dates for multiple prescriptions at once in the Override Next Fill Date window, making it easier to get out-of-sync prescriptions back on schedule or adjust the patient's overall refill schedule. Users can enter one date to use for all prescription refills, or they can change the dates for each prescription individually. 25 Override Next Fill Due Date for Multiple New Feature Prescriptions at Once Help patients get out-of-sync prescriptions on the same refill schedule. To override the next fill due date: In the Med Profile, select the prescriptions for which you need to override the next fill due date. » Press and hold Shift to select multiple consecutive prescriptions. » Press and hold Ctrl to select multiple non-consecutive prescriptions. Click the arrow next to Refill Management and select Override Next Fill Date. To use the same date for all selected prescriptions, enter the date on which the next fill should be due in the Next fill due field that appears below the list of selected prescriptions. To specify a different date for each prescription, click the double-chevron to expand the prescription information and enter the date in the Next fill due field for each prescription. 26 See Delivery Address Information in Work Requests New Feature What’s Changed » You can now see delivery address information such as address type, destination state, street address, and total address count in work requests, so you don't need to open the Delivery Method window to find this information during filling workflows. You can also hover over the new page icon to see delivery comments without opening the Delivery Method window. Delivery address information visible in work request 27 Who Said That? See User, Date, and Time in New Work Request Comments Feature What's Changed » Work request comments now show user information to help add context and direct pharmacy staff to the appropriate person if they have questions about the fill. Pharmacy staff can view the user, their credentials, the date, and the time of the last entered or edited comment under the work request comment box. The information also links to a full audit trail for the work request, which includes all work request comments and the corresponding user User information now appears under the work request comment box for the most recently information. added or updated comment. » The user information link is available any place users can view work request comments, including work queues, Flag Resolution, the Move Fills window, and the Edit Work Request activity from the Prescription History screen. Clicking the user information opens a full audit trail for the work request and includes comments and corresponding user information. 28 See How a Patient's Name Is Pronounced in Willow New Ambulatory Storyboard Feature What’s Changed » You can now add a patient's phonetic name pronunciation under their name in the Willow Ambulatory Storyboard so you can pronounce the patient's name correctly when addressing them. To edit a patient's phonetic name, along with other patient information, click the patient's name in Storyboard. Patient phonetic name in Willow Ambulatory Storyboard 29 Document Fills from the Past New Feature What's Changed » Pharmacists and technicians can now document a patient's past fills. For example, a pharmacy might fill and dispense a prescription during a downtime. When the system is back up, users can document the fill in Willow Select Historical Fill from the Med Profile. Ambulatory. To document a historical fill, users select the Historical Fill option from the Fill menu in the Med Profile and then select the time the fill was dispensed. Enter the date and time the fill was dispensed. 30 Hover Over a Drug Image To See More New Information Feature What's Changed » To make it easier for pharmacy staff to verify they are completing a fill with the correct drug, they can now hover over the drug image in the Pharmacy to Dispense pane to see a larger image and the package information and drug description in larger font. This option is also available in Medication Inquiry to make it easier for pharmacy staff to view drug information when inquir ing about cost and patient references. If there is no drug image available for a specified package, only the package information and description appear when the use r hovers. For a drug that has multiple images or descriptions, hovering shows the currently selected drug image and description. 31 View Pharmacy Fax Numbers During Prescription New Transfers Feature What’s Changed » You can now see the Transfer from and Transfer to pharmacies' fax numbers when transferring a prescription to another pharmacy so it's easier to fax the transfer out report. 32 Usability Updates to Work Requests New Feature What's Changed We've made several small user interface updates to work requests to improve usability and allow more room for viewing and editing work request comments. We expect these updates to be intuitive, but pharmacy staff might notice changes such as: 1. Status information no longer appears in the work request to give users more space for comments. Pharmacy staff can still see the status in the work request tab. 2. The red and blue baskets no longer appear in the work request. The color red can be misinterpreted for critical information, so we have removed the baskets altogether. 3. A patient icon now appears in the work request to indicate that a patient is waiting. Because we removed the red basket, thepatient icon now appears to help users easily identify waiting patients. 4. The dispensing pharmacy and delivery method are now at the top of the work request instead of in the middle, and the delivery method name now appears next to the icon. This helps users to find the information faster, and it is now easier to see and click thedelivery method button. 5. The Patient charge and Auto-pay fields now always appear in the work request. Users no longer need to scroll in the work request to find this information. 33 New Label for Prescription Reactivation New Button Feature What's Changed » Sometimes when a prescription is discontinued outside the pharmacy while a fill is in progress, the pharmacist needs to restore the prescription to the patient's active medication list even though a clinician didn't reorder the prescription after discontinuing it. Previously, the button the pharmacist used to do so was labeled Continue Filling even though restoring the prescription to the medication list didn't continue the fill that was previously in progress. Now, when a pharmacist needs to restore a discontinued prescription that has not been reordered to the active medication list, the button they use is labeled Reactivate Prescription to more accurately reflect what it does. The button pharmacists use to restore discontinued prescriptions to a patient's active medication list is now labeled Reactivate Prescription. 34 Fill Initiated Reports Are Automatically Reprinted After Fill Changes What's Changed » Fill Initiated reports can now be reprinted automatically if users make changes to fill information during the filling workflow. This change ensures that pharmacy staff have updated information when they use these reports to complete the fill process. You define which reports are used as Fill Initiated reports in either the Prescription Report and Label Routing table in a pharmacy record or the Prescription Printing table in a workstation record. This fill report can be reprinted automatically when a user changes fill information. 35 Ambulatory Pharmacist Pharmacist review questions 1.
