Adverse effect to the environment- HARMFUL EFFECT to the Environment Example : Air Pollution particularly Ozone Depletion, Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming, Loss of Biodiversity like loss of species Land & Water pollution Copyright of Macro Vision Consultancy. This can relate to different discipline such as financial, health, safety and environmental goals. Consider the directions from the Environmental Policy. To be more specific: ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVE – objective set by the organization consistent with its Environmental Policy of the EMS to ensure protection of the Environment. Example: Reduction of generated used paper by 10% for the year 20XX. Terms and Definitions LIFE CYCLE - consecutive and interlinked stages of a product or service system, from raw materials acquisition or generation from natural resources to final disposal. - Life cycle stages include acquisition of raw materials - Design - Production, transportation & delivery - Use - End of Life - Treatment - Final Disposal Copyright of Macro Vision Consultancy. Includes resource depletion − 4- Critical - major envt’l effect that can be controlled − 5- Catastrophic - Major envt’l effect with very restricted control Determining Significant Aspect & Hazard An aspect is significant if it satisfies any of the following: − If the overall rating is greater than or equal to 12. − If the aspect has an associated legal requirement − If the aspect has a severity of 4 or 5.
