Success At this stage, mass tourism replaces the original economy; tourist facilities, including transport, guiding, accommodation and restaurants are fully developed and used. Problem/Stagnation At this stage, visitor numbers reach their peak with carrying capacity reached or exceeded. Rejuvenation or Decline At this last stage, the area either declines as tourists go to other more fashionable, unspoiled destinations, or it rebrands with new, more sustainable approaches to tourist development.
