ABE 141 TERMS Voltage Sources –devices that increases potential difference for current to Current – flow of electrons flow. Electric Current – flow of free electrons Voltage Drop – voltage across a resistor Voltage – force applied to a conductor Power – rate at which work is done - Force and electron flow is in motion Reactive Power – imaginary power form inductive loads Resistance- third factor that plays role in electric circuit Impedance – total resistance and inductive reactance. Resistor – resist the flow of current DC Series Circuit – form when # of resistor are connected end-end Capacitors – store energy in an electrostatic field Parallel circuit – formed when 2 or more resistance are placed side by side. - Passive device that can store electrical charge Nodes – junction where multiple element connect Capacitance – measure of capacitors to store an electrical charge Branches – segment circuit containing single element Inductors – store energy in magnetic field Loops – any closed path through the circuit - Passive electrical component of a coil Diodes – acts as on-way switch Conductors – materials that allow flow of electric current Transistors – amplifies the signal Wires – solid and stranded- twisted wire to form a metallic Electric circuit – continuous path along which an electric current flow string (>8mm2) Closed Circuit – uninterrupted path that allows current to flow Cables (
