Data Visualization Session 4 – Part1 Purpose of the session 1. Build a dashboard by your own 2. Be able to analyze sales, profit, etc… 7 Tableau Desktop 1. Open Tableau 2. Connect to Data 3. Use the Superstore Data (…a Saved Data source) 8 Tableau Desktop Justfor your information : 1. Check the data source 2. Combination of 3 different tables 3. Start by creating a sheet 9 Tableau Desktop What you have to know : 1. Already sort by Dataset 2. In blue = dimension 3. In green = Measure 4. Hierarchy You can Filter or search, create field or hierarchy, etc… : 10 Part 1- KPIanalysis I'd like to understand by CATEGORIES and SUB-CATEGORIES: ○ Which are the best sellers in terms of total sales? ○ Which sub-categories are the least profitable? ○ Just Focus on USA for the entire use case Use marks (Color, Label) and also Filters. You can easily show filter to use it on the view Data source filter (if you want to do that only once Part 2 - Map Analysis I'd like to analyze profitability and sales by country and region, i.e. on a map. Drag and drop a new 'Sales amount' in Lines | then right-click this new 'Sales amount' \ Quick table calculation 'Year-on-year growth' and change display to Bars 4. CTRL+Drag/move this 2nd indicator from Lines to Color mark and to Text MArk Part 4 - Cross analysis I ‘d like to compare my sales and discount data to understand the impact of discounts. Advice : use a bubble chart Part 4 in detail - Cross analysis 1. New sheet: Drag & drop 'Profit' to Rows and 'discount' to Columns 2. Change ‘Discount aggregation’ to ‘average’ 3. If necessary, choose ‘bubble chart’ in “show me” tab 4. Add ‘order id’ to ‘details’ Part 5 - KPIfor the cockpit dashboard The goal is to create a dedicated sheet with KPI to put that later on top of the Dashboard 1. New sheet: Drag & drop the necessary KPI in the sheet 2. Change ‘measure names’ to columns 3. Choose ‘entire view’ instead of ‘standard’ view 4.
