Cyber Foundations II - Study Guide Notes *Our test is October 11, 2024. It will be a combination of multiple choice questions, listing, and discussion questions. When you answer discussion questions, they must be in full sentences and correct grammar. If you have a listing question, it can be one or two word answers. Safety/Procedure Questions (Unit 1) 1. Enter the classroom orderly and quietly. 2. Do not run in the classroom or horseplay in the computer lab. 3. Do not lean back in the chairs. 4. Do not move around the classroom without permission. Stay seated. 5. Access only the programs assigned by the teacher. Do not get on games unless you have been given permission. 6. Mrs. Wyers’ desk, cabinets, and closets are off limits without permission. 7. Food, drinks, candy and gum are not allowed near the chromebooks or ipads. Digital Citizenship/Online Safety (Unit 1) 8. Be respectful and a good citizen online and inside or outside of the classroom. 9. Ethics are moral principles that govern behavior. 10. Netiquette is a term for appropriate ways to communicate on the internet. 11. Your digital footprint is the trail of data that you leave when going online. 12. A hacker is someone who gains unauthorized access to someone’s computer or online platforms. 13. Cyberbullying is harm put on someone through text, emails, social media or other online sites. Student Organizations (Unit 2) 14. List 3 Characteristics of leaders: honest, good listeners, good communicators, team players, motivated, kind, consistent, etc (What do YOU think makes a good leader??) 15. TSA stands for Technology Student Association. 16. A meeting agenda is a list of meeting activities in the order they are to be taken up. 21st Century Toolbox (Unit 3) 17. Visual aids such as charts or diagrams are good for visual learners. 18. Auditory learning involves learning through listening and speaking. 19. Kinesthetic learners enjoy hands-on activities and physical movement. 20. A to-do list is an essential time management tool to prioritize tasks and deadlines. 21. Active listening is focusing entirely on what the speaker is saying. 22. Empathy (in communication) is understanding and sharing the feelings of another. (Like putting yourself in their shoes and trying to see/understand from their perspective.) 23. Listening to each other’s perspective and trying to find a compromise is the best way to handle conflict with a peer. 24. Body language and facial expressions can convey as much meaning as spoken words. 25. Maintaining good eye contact with your audience is important when giving a presentation. 26. Active listening involves maintaining good eye contact, nodding your head, and asking clarifying questions. 27. To-do lists help you by organizing and prioritizing your tasks. 28. You can avoid procrastination (putting things off) by setting deadlines for yourself and sticking to them. 29. Describe a situation in which you had to use good communication skills. What was the situation? What skills did you use (like listening, sharing feelings, finding a compromise, good eye contact, asking permission, solving conflict peacefully, etc)? What was the outcome? (Write at least 5 sentences and answer all parts of the question.) ○ Examples: tell about a time you solved a problem with a friend; share about a time you asked your parents for something you wanted and explained why; write about a time you asked your teacher for help with something and how that played out. Financial Literacy (Unit 4) 30. A budget is a plan for how to spend and save money over a specific period of time. 31. Needs are specific and essential items that are required for basic living. 32. Wants are items that are desirable but not essential to survival. 33. An emergency fund is savings set aside for unexpected expenses or financial emergencies. Short Answer 30. Do you feel like you have a good online/social media and real life balance? Explain your answer of yes or no. How do you balance your time on devices/internet versus real life experiences? Give at least two examples of how you keep things balanced. (*This is really personal to you. How to do you keep things balanced? Could you do better, etc? How do we not let technology take over our lives?) 31. List at least 3 careers that need good knowledge of online knowledge/internet literacy to be successful in their paths? (**This could be so many things…..teacher, banker, social media manager, HR director, pharmacist, game developer, influencer, etc) 32. Explain catfishing online. What does this mean? Why is catfishing not an appropriate way to interact with others online? How would you feel lif you were involved in a catfishing situation? Write at least 3-4 sentences. ○ Catfishing is pretending to be something you are not online. This could include pictures, messages, etc in which the person is trying to scam the other person. This could be seen on social media apps, dating apps, etc. This is harmful to individuals; it could cause trust issues for the victim; it could put someone in a dangerous situation.
