TITLE OF POST AND GRADE Your position is Cell Community Extension Assistant(CCEA). This is a Grade C post. B. SCOPE OF WORK (see Job Description enclosed as Annex 1) C. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE  The position of CCEA is a project position.  However, ARCOS Network is able to offer you a one-year contract effective from 1st January 2024.  The contract will be submitted to annual appraisal and renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. D. DEVELOPMENT AND PROBATION PERIOD  The probation period is 3 months but it can be extended depending on the performance. E. WORK STATION  Your work station will be Rutsiro,Musasa, Nyarubuye&Gabiro, Rwanda.  ARCOS reserves the right to appoint you to any other work station within its area of operation. However, any change of work station shall be agreed on before. F. COMPENSATION AND TAXES Collaborative Action for Nature and People / Action Collaborative pour l’Homme et la Nature UK Charity No. 1102123 - Company No. 4103967, Uganda NGO No. S 5914/5195, Rwanda NGO No: 118/RGB/18  Your full and all-inclusive gross monthly salary for this contract is US Dollars Three Hundred Fifty (USD 350) only or its equivalent. This money will be paid by bank transfer directly to your designated bank account at the prevailing bank exchange rate.  ARCOS will provide non-taxable basic contribution to your living standards and communication equivalent to Sixty US Dollars (USD 60). This amount will be paid by bank transfer directly to your designated bank account at the prevailing bank exchange rate.  This contract is made with the understanding that ARCOS will pay all applicable statutory deductions or other applicable taxes as required by the laws of Rwanda. In addition, ARCOS will ensure that your working area standards is meet and provide a basic health insurance for you and up to four dependents (husband/wife and up to 3 children).  No other payment or compensation will be provided to you under this contract except as may be agreed for specific activities. G. PROGRAM REPORTING AND LINE MANAGEMENT  You will be reporting to the HABURUREMA Theogene Cell Community Extension Officer(CCEO) and liaise with other ARCOS Staff on regular basis.  You are expected to keep your Line Management promptly informed about your work progress and any changes that may affect your work. H. WORKING PRACTICES, RULES AND POLICIES  You are requested to consult Human Resources Department to obtain a copy of ARCOS Operational Procedures. Below are some key elements of the staff policies and procedures.  ARCOS does not accept any liability for the loss of or damage to your property during the implementation of your duties whatever the cause. Any personal tools or equipment used during your work must comply with the relevant Health and Safety regulations. It is your responsibility to ensure the safe working condition of such personal items.  You are required to ensure safety and good maintenance of ARCOS equipment and property provided to you or received on behalf of ARCOS.  You are required to use professional discretion at all times in direct or indirect disclosing to third parties, knowledge or information relating to ARCOS business or the business of any of ARCOS’ members and collaborators.  You are not allowed to use for your own purposes or profit or for any purposes other than of ARCOS any operation or otherwise confidential or sensitive information that you may access, acquire or otherwise come into your possession by virtue of your work, during the period of your employment with ARCOS.  Any publication, report, photos, electronic documents collected during the implementation of your activities or any publication, report produced after your current job using the same information remain the property of ARCOS.  At the time of leaving ARCOS for whatever reason, you are required to return all materials, products, documentation or any other information related to ARCOS that may be in your possession, and if requested, to confirm compliance with this requirement in writing,  ARCOS is committed to providing quality treatment and good working relationship with all its staff and employees of all cadres  Any expenses incurred in undertaking ARCOS duties will be reimbursed by ARCOS, if this was planned in the budget and after agreement with your Line Manager; and ARCOS encourages good relationship between its employees and Line Managers, ARCOS members, partners and/or collaborators. To avoid unexpected disclosure, dialogue and regular communication is recommended I. WORKING HOURS Normal working hours for ARCOS are 8hours from 08.00 am to 05.00 pm, from Monday to Friday. This is the recommended time to liaise with ARCOS staff. ARCOS staff observe official public holidays of the host countries. J. HOLIDAYS  You are entitled to 24 working days holiday for every 12 calendar months worked. Arrangements (dates) for these holidays must be agreed with your line manager and Human Resources Department who must be notified at least two weeks before the beginning of your holiday period. You are allowed to carry forward up to 10 days maximum and before end March to the following year.  In addition to the above, you will receive a paid holiday on or in respect of each public holiday officially recognized in Rwanda or in your duty station at the time. K. JOB PLANNING, EVALUATION AND APPRAISAL  You are required to carry out regular planning of your work and evaluation of your achievements, indicating tasks completed or not, the level of relationship building and networking, strengths, weaknesses and constraints to your work as well as outcomes of specific agreed objectives, work plans, fundraising and targeted deadlines.  This evaluation should be conducted every month, quarter, six months and every year. The evaluation of your performance should involve at least yourself and your Line Manager, but you are encouraged to involve other ARCOS staff for wider feedback. L. CONFLICTS OF INTEREST  By signing this contract, you warrant that you have not entered into any previous or contemporaneous agreements, or that you will not undertake any other work that may be in conflict with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, or which would preclude you from fully performing your job responsibilities for ARCOS. M. DISPUTES Any dispute under this contract, which is not resolved by mutual consent, shall be decided by ARCOS Core Management Team, if no satisfaction within 14 days, the staff appeals decision to the overall ARCOS Board of Directors whose decision shall then be final. N. BREACH OF CONTRACT, TERMINATIONS, AMENDMENTS/REVISION  Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of this contract will be construed as a "breach of contract" and will result in the termination of this contract.  You shall notify your Line Manager and HRs of any circumstances which may affect your work.  This contract may be amended and/or revised by mutual consent of both parties. This contract is terminable by either party giving the other one month’ notice or one month of salary in lieu of notice. ARCOS reserves the right to terminate this contract with immediate effect for any serious or persistent breach or non-observance of the terms, conditions or stipulations contained in this Agreement, or for any serious, negligence or gross misconduct in connection with or affecting the business or affairs of ARCOS. O. NON LIABILITY Neither ARCOS employees nor the employees of collaborating organizations are liable for any legal claims for damages, penalties, etc., arising out of this contract. P. INQUIRIES Any questions or inquiries regarding the provisions of this contract should be addressed to ARCOS Network Human Resources Department. If no satisfaction, the query shall be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and eventually to ARCOS Board of Directors. Q. Introduction The Albertine Rift is a biogeographic region of the western African Rift Valley, covering the area in six countries: Eastern D.R. Congo, Western Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Western Tanzania to Northern Zambia. The Albertine Rift Conservation Society (ARCOS) or Société de Conservation du Rift Albertin (SCORA) in French was founded in 1995 with the mission “To enhance biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources in the Albertine Rift region through the promotion of collaborative conservation action for nature and people”. Its overall goal is to enhance conservation of critical ecosystems and biodiversity values in the Albertine Rift region and generate collaborative actions between the various conservation partners in the Albertine Rift. ARCOS is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in the UK and Uganda, with offices in Kampala, Uganda and in Kigali, Rwanda. An international Board of Trustees comprising members from the Albertine Rift and other international professionals is responsible for overall management of ARCOS. ARCOS is the only conservation organization established with a unique focus on biodiversity conservation at the regional level in the Albertine Rift and since 2013, ARCOS has extended its activities to the Great Lakes region and African Mountains. Integrating conservation and development has been at the core of ARCOS activities for several years. 2. Overall Responsibilities of Cell Community Extension Assistant 1. To facilitate the farmers’ access to tree seedlings of different species including agroforestry, woodlots and fruit trees. Cell Community Extension Assistant will coordinate all tree nursery activities on daily basis. Overall responsibilities of Tree Nursery Manager 1. To undertake effective delivery of tree nursery management activities in the assigned site according to the tree nursery development plan. 2.To contribute to the development and implementation of the work plan of the tree nursery in reference to the project plan. 3. To manage the monthly and quarterly technical report. 4. To determine optimal growing conditions (weather, topography, soil type, drainage etc) that affect seedlings growth. 5. To contribute to the recruitment of the employees of the tree nursery, training of farmers on tree nursery development and maintenance to ensure the sustainability of the project. 6. To contribute to the selection of tree seeds to plant and grow depending on specific conditions of agricultural zone and objectives of the project. 7. To Monitor tree growth and report quickly to potential problems or threats to the health of the seedlings. 8. To maintain the nursery facilities and equipment to ensure sustainable use 9. Work closely CCEO and Landscape management and project team members to ensure project plan is delivered on time to agreed targets. 10. Represents ARCOS-MuLaKiLa Project at meetings with stakeholders as directed by Line Manager. 11. Undertake any other tasks commensurate to the position as directed. 3. Required Profile  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Forestry, Agriculture, Ecology, natural resource management, or related field;  Excellent community development and tree nursery management skills;  At least 2 year’ experience in in the field of community development and tree nursery related Grafting;  A good understanding of the community engagement at landscape level  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;  Excellent oral and written communication skills in Kinyarwanda, English and French.  Good computer Skills  Experience of working and negotiating with local government officials, communities and other stakeholders
