Summary
This document provides a detailed explanation of how to create conceptual and theoretical frameworks for different research designs (quantitative, qualitative, and experimental). It highlights the importance of reviewing relevant literature, identifying key concepts and variables, and establishing clear relationships between them. The document also includes examples of different types of frameworks.

Topic: How to write the Conceptual Framework and Theoretical framework for quantitative, qualitative and for experimental Theoretical framework- It consists of related ideas and definitions that provide an organized way of understanding a situation by showing how different factors are connected to explain what is happening. Importance: It's important for all research to clearly explain the underlying theory. Doing so helps researchers understand their own limitations and consider other theories that might offer different viewpoints. In Qualitative: More flexible and open to interpretation. In Quantitative: Very organized and clearly defined. In Experimental: A clear outline that explains the main theories and ideas that guide an experiment.. Figure 1. Example of a qualitative research theoretical framework Figure 2. Example of a quantitative research theoretical framework Figure 3. Example of an experimental research theoretical framework Key points to write the theoretical framework Identify the key concepts and variables: Begin by identifying the key ideas and factors your research is focusing on, such as motivation, behavior, attitudes, or any other important concepts. Review relevant literature: Do a detailed review of the current studies in your field to find important theories and ideas connected to your research. This will help you understand the existing knowledge and theories that are relevant, giving you a foundation for your theoretical framework. Develop a framework: Using your literature review, create a framework that highlights the main ideas and how they are connected. This framework should give a clear and simple summary of the theory supporting your research. Identify hypotheses and research questions: Based on your conceptual framework, identify the hypotheses and research questions that you want to test or explore in your research. Test your theoretical framework: After creating your theoretical framework, apply it to your research data to test it. This will help you spot any gaps or weaknesses, allowing you to improve and adjust the framework if needed. Conceptual framework is the representation of the relationship expected to see between variables, the characteristics, goal and expectation that the researchers want in their study. It is generally developed based on the literature review of existing studies about the topic. Importance: It provides clarity about the goal of the research Saving the time by organizing thoughts and ideas In Qualitative: flexible and often evolving, allowing for adjustment based on data collection In Quantitative: structure of the conceptual framework is more rigid and predefined, often based on established theories In Experimental: highly structured, often involving control and experimental groups. Figure 4. Example of a qualitative research conceptual framework Figure 5. Example of a quantitative research conceptual framework Figure 6. Example of an experimental research conceptual framework Key points to write the conceptual framework Select a topic: consider how many resources you have for conducting research. Determine research question: it is important to know the research question when writing a conceptual framework as it will narrow down the scope of the study, ensuring that the framework is relevant, and it establishes objectives of the research allowing it to align the concepts and variables. Conduct a research: choose a research that closely relates to your research topic. Seek to study how reliable and credible it is and how recent it was published. Conducting research will help the researchers to gain insights, different opinions and points of views that exist in the surroundings. Determine framework variables: a crucial part of creating the conceptual framework as it will help you to relate the variables to one another and its impact. Detail relationships: It will help researchers to explain relationships in a concise manner and in that it will help the others to better understand the framework. Emphasize the variable relationships and clearly explain why the relationship exists. Design the framework: it is the last step, create a diagram, lay out each variable and their names in rectangles, and connect them with lines and arrows to represent which of them share relationships. Typically researchers can use single headed arrows to represent one-directional-relationship, while double headed arrows represent two-directional relationships. Some researchers use legend to explain the framework design and its elements. REFERENCES: Hassan, M. (2023, August 15). Theoretical Framework - Types, Examples and writing guide.
