Evaluation along the semester entails the instruments: 1. Oral presentation and discussion of an organization with support to power points or other similar software - 15% 7 Fundamentals of Management Assessment 2. Report of the chosen organization explaining the four functions of management (maximum of 10 pages excluding cover page, syllabus content and bibliography) – 20%. Font 11 and space of 1.5. 3. Quiz - 10% 4. Final test - 55%. In each of these components the mark must be at least 7,50 Required attendance in practical sessions: 80% (minimum of 2 practical classes) 8 Fundamentals of Management Assessment If the student obtains a negative mark in the periodic evaluation, the student can still take the final exam in the second season. Students may opt for a final written exam (two dates) at the end of the semester. There are two seasons. The students who have a grade above 17 points do an oral examination, in order to get a mark between 17 and 20. 9 Fundamentals of Management Advice for presentations in practical classes Quality of the presentation → It is expected that students describe the problems orally in a structured and clear form: The presentation should have introduction, development and conclusion! Students must know how to apply theoretical subjects with the problems related with the case studies 10 Fundamentals of Management → Students must behave professionally: Using appropriate language; Holding an adequate corporal posture while presenting; Do not wear casual clothes → Students should use some type of software to support their presentation visually (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint). 11 Fundamentals of Management Considerations about the presentations in practical classes: Bear the following points in mind: Avoid depending on the slides; Avoid depending on notes; Avoid slides overfilled with text; The maximum duration of the presentation is 20 minutes Recommended font size is between 24 and 40 Be creative! 12 Fundamentals of Management Considerations about the presentations in practical classes: The evaluation of the presentation comprises four components: Presentation quality; Research related to the issue; Integrating theory and practice; Class dynamics and relevance of research questions 13 Fundamentals of Management Final Advices: 1) All members of the group must present the work; 2) Practice the presentation as a group before presenting in class; 3) When presenting take into consideration that all unsuitable actions can damage the final results, small actions as chewing gum, being distracted, starring at a wall, etc. 14 Fundamentals of Management Good luck ! 15
