Chapter 1  What are the contents of the chapter 1 Introduction Statement of the problem Objectives Significance of the study Scope and delimitation Definition of terms  What is the purpose of chapter 1 Chapter 1 is the very first chapter of your study Therefore, it must be able to explain to the reader the overall scope and purpose of your study TIP: When doing technical writing never put the pronouns I, You, Me, We  INTRODUCTION An introduction in technical writing should be different from an introduction of a story, essay or poem. When creating an introduction never use hype or inappropriate words/phrases such as “have you ever wondered, As a matter of fact, isn’t it amazing, Once in a faraway land, etc…” as this are used for introduction for fancy and sci- fi stories not for technical writing.  So how do we create an introduction for thesis? The introduction for technical writing must be highly based on the title of the study The introduction must explain and expound the title of the study  Sample introduction Title: a proposed new urbanism layout for the municipality of Minglanilla as a preparation for urban growth Intro: in creating the intro you must explain and expound important words in the title such as “what is new urbanism” and describe the “characteristics of Minglanilla” and as well as defining what “urban growth” means. an introduction therefore is a detailed description of your title  Sample intro New urbanism is an urban model created by Peter Calthorpe and company, the goal of new urbanism is to achieve preservation and revitalization of the urban realm with great consideration of the users and its environment. Minglanilla is a municipality in cebu that is progressive however lacks the proper urban planning developments resulting in the municipality to be considered as the worst traffic congested city in Cebu, and also having a low GDP as compared to different cities and muncipality. Urban growth is an effect of continuous progress in a city or municipality. Urban growth in minglanilla has been poorly executed and has no developments addressing it based on the yearly report from the LGU.  So if you have noticed, the introduction really is a longer version of the title it only expounds each important items in the title To be able to make a good intro, you should be doing preliminary research and you shall already be putting some of the data in the introduction Do not put your own opinion or your views about a topic or data in the introduction (ex.
