"A Christmas Carol" is a story about a man named Ebenezer Scrooge, who is very grumpy and does not like Christmas. He loves money and is not kind to other people. Scrooge has a clerk named Bob Cratchit who is very kind, but Scrooge is not nice to him. Sadly, Scrooge's old partner, Jacob Marley, has died. One chilly Christmas Eve, Scrooge goes home and sees something scary. Marley's ghost comes to visit him! The ghost tells Scrooge that he will see three more ghosts that night. The first ghost, the Ghost of Christmas Past, takes Scrooge back in time to when he was a young boy and then a young man. Scrooge sees that he used to be happier and kinder, and he liked a girl named Belle. But then, he started to care more about money and Belle left him. Next, the Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge what is happening right now. They visit Bob Cratchit's home, where Scrooge meets Bob's sweet family, including Tiny Tim, Bob's little boy who can't walk well. Scrooge feels sad seeing Tiny Tim's leg and wants him to get better. The last ghost, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, is very silent and wears a black robe. This ghost shows Scrooge shadows of things that might happen. Scrooge sees that people are happy when he is gone, and he sees his own name on a gravestone. This makes Scrooge very afraid. When he wakes up, it is Christmas Day. Scrooge is a changed man! He is not grumpy anymore. He is happy and wants to help people. He gives money to help the poor, buys a big Christmas dinner for Bob's family, and is kind to everyone he meets. Scrooge also takes care of Tiny Tim, and Tiny Tim gets better. Ebenezer Scrooge learns that being kind and loving to others is more important than money. He becomes a good friend and is like a second father to Tiny Tim. Everyone is now very happy because Scrooge is a much better person. Scrooge keeps the spirit of Christmas in his heart all year long. And that's the story of how a grumpy old man learned to love Christmas and be nice to people.
