BATANES HEALTH SYSTEMS ASIS, HUSMILLO, PIOLO, SANCHEZ GROUP 2 - DDM 3-1 TOPIC OUTLINE A INTRODUCTION B HEALTH SYSTEMS C HEALTH INDICATORS IBAYAT Batanes is the first main island group in the northern tip of Luzon, located between the Babuyan Islands and Taiwan. The three largest islands are Itbayat, Batan, and Sabtang. Basco, on Batan Island, is the capital. Almost half of the terrain in Batanes is composed of hills and mountains. The smallest province of the Philippines, it also has the smallest population. BATAN SABTANG SERVICE DELIVERY BATANES GENERAL HOSPITAL (BGH) BGH is a DOH-retained hospital in Batanes. This is the primary healthcare facility in Batanes, serving as a tertiary level II hospital. It offers a wide range of medical services, including general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine, and emergency care.l SERVICE DELIVERY ITBAYAT DISTRICT HOSPITAL Itbayat District Hospital is located in Itbayat, Batanes, Philippines. It is a government-run hospital that provides primary healthcare services to the people of Itbayat and the surrounding municipalities. The hospital has a limited number of beds and staff, but it is equipped to handle a variety of medical emergencies. It offers a range of services, including general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and emergency care. SERVICE DELIVERY RURAL HEALTH UNIT (RHU) AND BIRTHING HOME Batanes has several RHUs located in different municipalities, providing primary healthcare services to the local communities. These units offer basic health services, such as maternal and child health, family planning, and disease prevention and control. 📍ITBAYAT, BATANES SERVICE DELIVERY PROVINCIAL HEALTH OFFICE Batanes has several provincial health offices located in different municipalities, providing primary healthcare services to the local communities. HUMAN RESOURCE FOR HEALTH DOCTORS, NURSES & BARANGAY HEALTHCARE WORKERS Batanes' main healthcare issue is the shortage of medical professionals, a problem mirrored across the Philippines. While many Ivatan doctors visit temporarily, only around five are permanently based there due to the lack of financial incentives. Despite Batanes' natural beauty attracting visiting doctors, the region struggles to retain long-term healthcare staff. According to the World Health Organization's SDG index, Batanes would need 80 doctors to meet the recommended ratio of 4.45 healthcare workers per 1,000 people.
