Agricultural meteorological Station Agricultural meteorological stations are maintained to assist agriculture These stations are concerned with agriculture in widest sense, including horticulture, animal husbandry and forestry In addition, they make use of weather observations at all types of meteorological stations Selection of Site To ensure that the observations are representative of the place and sufficiently comparable with these made at other stations to permit their use in national or regional studies, the following basic requirements are laid down for meteorological stations The site should be level and uniform where the out door instrument are installed Site should be covered with short grasses and base path of (2 m) should be reserved for observation Approximately site should be 10 m x 7m surrounded by open fencing There should not be steeply slopping ground in the vicinity and the site should not be in a shallow The site should be well away from trees; walls or other obstructions The distance of any such obstacle (including fencing) from the rain gauge should not be less than twice the height of the object above the rim of the gauge and preferably four times the height.
