Art involves experience - Art is an actual doing of something that the artist knows what art is all about and uses the five senses Art is universal - It can be found anywhere in the world, and it is embedded into the way of life of the people Concept of Art by Famous people Jean Paul Sarte - A famous philosopher described the role of art as a creative work that depicts the world in a completely different light and perspective that beholds beauty of its own kind. Leo Tolstoy - Art is central to man’s existence because it makes accessible feelings and emotions of people from the past and present.” Concept of Art by Famous people Albert Einstein - “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Types of Arts Visual Art- It is a creation that appeals to the sense of sight and can be seen in nature. Film - This is an illusion of movement in which a succession of still images are put together Theater Art - It is used to present imaginary events before a live audience that follows a script. Visual Art Film Theater Art Function of Arts Personal - art that makes the art subjective depending on the perspective of the viewer and the artist who created the art. Social - art that addresses aspects of collective life as opposed to one person’s point of view or experience Forms of Arts Non-representational - art forms that do not make a reference to the real world, whether it is a person, place, thing, or even a particular event. Representational - represents objects or events in the real world, usually looking easily recognizable. Non-representational Representational Main Components/Elements of Visual Arts Subject - is the visual focus or image of an artwork that is extracted from examining the artwork Form - is the development and configuration of an artwork. It shows how the elements and the medium or material are put together Content - meaning communicated by the artist Significant factor in Philippine Arts Japanese Period - This period was considered a Golden Age of Philippine Literature because the Filipino language flourished. “Orden ng Pambansang Alagad ng Sining” and “Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan” are two major awards given to the artists in the Philippines Republic Act No. 7355 - National Living Treasures Award was created in 1992 under the jurisdiction of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Analysis of Artwork Iconic Plane - A plane that includes the implication of social and political views. The viewer may recognize it instantly because it is famous Contextual Plane - artwork that looks at the cultural, social, and political context and that is often used by historians. Semiotic Plane - covers the elements and general, technical, and physical aspects of the work. Art Exploration Archaeological Exploration - The exploration reveals that there has been a gradual shift from the nomadic lifestyle of early humans, paving the way for the rise of early civilizations. Neolithic Art - The period of art that people learned to cultivate the land and domesticate animals. The life of early humans become more stable. Ancient Art - paintings discovered in caves as artifacts of archaeological evidence, and pictures of large animals are the subjects of their drawings Art Style Realism - An art style where the artist tries to paint a picture within the context of social change and depicts real-life events. Impressionism - characterizations of the style include small, visible brushstrokes that offer the bare impression of form, unblended color and an emphasis on the accurate depiction of natural light. Fauve - used pure, brilliant colour aggressively applied straight from the paint tubes to create a sense of an explosion on the canvas.
