The manager should include in the planning process all people and units that could be affected by a plan. Plans should be specific, simple, and realistic because a vague plan is impossible to implement. Know when to plan and when not to plan. Good plans have built-in evaluation checkpoints so that there can be a midcourse correction if unexpected events occur.
