KMS2014 Design and Management of Training Program Semester 1 2024/2025 Group Assignment 1: Training Needs Analysis (TNA) Due date: 4 December 2024 Group Assignment 1 (10%) Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to give students a hands-on experience in conducting a situational analysis to identify training needs in an organization. This assignment will help students develop skills in analysing organizational context and determining areas where training can improve performance. Instruction 1. For this assignment, you will work in a team of 5-6 members. 2. Select an organization. Each group will select a real-life case study (e.g. retail company, hotel, restaurants). 3. Utilize generative AI Tool. Use generative AI tools to gather information on the industry, identify common training needs, and understand best practices in training and development. 4. Conduct a situational analysis: a. Provide a brief overview of the organization, including its mission, goals, and structure b. Analyze the current performance, culture, and any existing training programs c. Conduct interviews/ surveys with key stakeholders (e.g., managers, employees) to gather insights on current issues and skill gaps. d. Identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to training and development. 5. Prepare a training needs assessment survey/interview guide 6. Identify training needs. Based on the situational analysis, identify key areas where training is required, who will receive the training, and other pertinent information. Prioritize training needs and justify your choices. 7. Recommend ONE (1) training based on your group’s analysis. 8. Your group will submit a report of your analysis: a. Deadline: 4 November 2024 (pdf version via eLEAP). b. Report should professional looking with title of your report, group member names, matric numbers, course name and date of submission c.
