**COMBAT MARKSMANSHIP** **(Handout)** **Combat Marksmanship** Equals the Shooter's Ability to Place Fast, Accurate, And Lethal Fire on The Enemy without Hesitation in Adverse Conditions under Mental and Physical Stress - - - - - **REASON** The shooter's knowledge and experience in applying basic marksmanship fundamentals are the foundation that allows the shooter to progress marksmanship skills into combat marksmanship ability. Your ability to eliminate threats quickly and accurately is essential to accomplishing your mission. The fundamentals of marksmanship, urban firing techniques, and short-range marksmanship taught during this course will help you to effectively conduct MOUT. **Safety Consideration** - A safety briefing will be given prior to each range session. - When not on the firing line, all weapons will be cleared and handled as though they are loaded. - All range firing will be in accordance with local unit SOPs and range regulations. **Fundamental of CMS** - Stance/ Body Position - Grip - Sight alignment - Sight picture - Breathing - Trigger control - Follow-through - Recovery **Stance/ Body Position** - Stance/ Position must be comfortable - Allow for maximum recoil management - **Grip** - Your grip to allow placement of the trigger finger for maximum control. - Grip should be comfortable but firm enough to control the weapon **Recovery** - - - Immediate Action - SPORTS - Slap - Pull - Observe - Release - Tap - Squeeze - Remedial Action - Action performed after Immediate Action or upon a serious weapon malfunction - Attempt to place the weapon in safe - Remove the source of feed (Magazine) - Pull the charging handle to the rear and lock it in place - Inspect the chamber and clear the malfunction - Re -- Insert the source of feed (Magazine) - Release the bolt to the forward locked position - Tap the forward assist - Weapon on fire - Re -- acquire sight picture - Squeeze the trigger - Magazine Changes - Slide Lock ReLoad - Slide lock reload is performed when you have exhausted all of the ammunition in your source of feed causing the slide or bolt to lock to the rear. - Attempt to place the weapon in safe - Secure a new fully loaded source of feed (Mag) - Remove the empty source of feed (Mag) - Replace the empty Mag with a Loaded Mag - Release the Bolt/ Slide to the forward locked position - Tap the forward assist - Weapon on fire - Squeeze the trigger - Work Space - L -- Shaped - C/V Grip - Parallel - **Tactical Reload** - TAC MAG reload is performed when you have eliminated your target and feel it is necessary to reload in order to have maximum ammunition for your next target. - Attempt to place the weapon in safe - **Urban Firing Techniques** - Kneeling Supported - Drop to the kneeling position toward the inside of the cover - Place the foot toward the outside of the cover, with toes pointing toward the target - Place a nonfiring hand on the edge of the cover to support the weapon - Coke Can Grip - Low Profile - Little Cover Needed - Stable - Kneeling Unsupported - Drop to the knee assuming a normal kneeling firing position toward the inside of the cover - Place the foot toward the outside of the cover, with toes pointing toward the target - - - - **Short Range Marksmanship** - Short Range Marksmanship allows soldiers to quickly and effectively engage targets at ranges less than 50 Meters - Low Ready - High Ready - Reflexive Fire/ Ready Ups 1.
