**PURPOSE** The purpose of this document it to give an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to personnel during the course of their shift. **POLICY** It is the policy of the Bernalillo County Fire Department (BCFD) to designate wake and rest periods as well as designate duties and...
**PURPOSE** The purpose of this document it to give an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to personnel during the course of their shift. **POLICY** It is the policy of the Bernalillo County Fire Department (BCFD) to designate wake and rest periods as well as designate duties and responsibilities for crewmembers during a shift. These duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive, however they should work in conjunction with assignments, orders, and direction given by a Chief Officer, Battalion Commander, Regional/Station Captain, or Company Officer. **PROCEDURE** I. **EXPECTATIONS OF CREW MEMBERS** A. Wakeful Watch time is from 07:00 to 18:00. 1. Must successfully complete and/or maintain all training in accordance with timelines as assigned by the department or the County. 2. Remain in proximity to the fire station and primary response area, in a state of readiness to respond to alarms. 3. Ensure MDT is Logged into the CAD at all times a. Every Monday all MDT's should be shut down and restarted to clear cache, install updates, etc\... 4. Be active and productive in fire department activities such as training, public relations, or station duties. The following is prohibited during wakeful watch: a. Sleeping. b. Video games. c. Television viewing other than significant news and weather events. 5. The Company Officer may alter the wakeful watch per shift/per station for justifiable reasons. 6. Upon arrival of a Commander or Chief Officer all crewmembers will gather to meet with the officer until they are told they can resume previous activities. 7. The station shall be clean and presentable at all times. a. The station shall be cleaned each morning prior to being relieved. 8. Crews are to initiate projects around the station to ensure that the station, apparatus, equipment, and grounds are properly maintained in a clean orderly fashion and are in good operating conditions. Examples of self-initiated projects include but are not limited to: - Day rooms, office space - Kitchens to include cleaning out refrigerators - Bunk rooms and bathrooms - Clean out and reorganize storage rooms - Workout areas and meeting rooms - Wash out bay floors and clean out bay floor drains and gutters - Wash windows inside and outside - Driveway and grounds - Cut grass and remove weeds - Keep the grounds presentable and free of debris, and trash B. Restful Watch 18:00 to 07:00 1. Crewmembers are to remain in a state of readiness to respond to alarms. 2. Sleeping, video games and normal television viewing is allowed. 3. Crewmembers may retire to their bunkrooms to recline or rest or to engage in personal study. 4. Wake up time is 0700, unless approved by Company Officer for justifiable reasons. C. Scheduled Public Relation Events 1. Public relations events that involves the Operations Division will be approved by the Deputy Chief of Operations. 2. Once approved public relation events will be scheduled on the BCFD main calendar, the event on the calendar shall include at the minimum: a. Location b. Times c. Units assigned d. Point of Contact for the event e. Whether PR material will be available for the event. 3. Crews are expected to be in a clean Class C uniform, and be presentable. 4. Crews are to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time of the event to ensure ample set-up time, unless otherwise stipulated. 5.
