Laboratory Incubator, Oven and Water bath Lab 2 Attended By: Assistant teacher/ SUHAIB RAAD LABORATORY INCUBATORS A laboratory incubator is a heated, insulated box used to grow and maintain microbiological or cell cultures. The incubator maintains optimal temperature, humidity and gaseous content of the atmosphere inside. Uses of incubator 1- Bacterial growth 2- Cell growth 3- Fungal growth Types of incubators Ordinary Incubator CO2 Incubator Shaker Incubator Oven Is widely used in the medical laboratories to sterilize, drying and heating the equipment and other materials that are used in a laboratory. Uses of Oven Drying or Dehydrating – Removing moisture from samples Sterilizing – Remove or destroy bacteria or microorganisms from something. Used to metal and glass. Evaporating – Used to evaporate excess solvent Types Of Laboratory Ovens 1)Mechanical Ovens - These ovens circulate air throughout the chamber. 2) Vacuum Ovens - These ovens used for drying or dehydrating samples under vacuum. water bath Is laboratory equipment made from a container filled with heated water. It is used to incubate samples in water at a constant temperature over a long period of time. Types of water bath 1- circulating water baths 2-non-circulating water baths 3- shaking water baths
