RVFD Policy #5401 December 15, 2003 Revised Page 1 of 2 EQUIPMENT MARKING I. PURPOSE All portable tools and equipment on all RVFD assigned apparatus shall be marked as prescribed in the procedure section of this policy. This is in an effort to provide rapid identification of all tools and equipment. This will assist in inventory control and reduce loss of Department property. II. APPLICABILITY This policy applies to all portable tools and equipment carried on all RVFD assigned apparatus. III. PROCEDURE A. This policy establishes color codes for all RVFD Stations. ♦ Station 3 RED ♦ Station 23 BLUE ♦ Station 31 BLACK ♦ Station 33 GREEN B. All tools and portable equipment will be marked with a stripe with the color designated for the assigned station. This stripe shall be a minimum of 2” and placed in a visual location that is not likely to make regular contact with another object, such as on ceiling hooks near the handle end. C. This policy establishes color codes for all major apparatus. ♦ Engine Companies WHITE ♦ Truck/Tower Companies ORANGE ♦ Rescue Squad YELLOW ♦ Ambulances BROWN ♦ Medic Units GREEN ♦ Brush Trucks PURPLE ♦ Rescue Engine WHITE/BLUE ♦ Tanker GRAY D. All tools and portable equipment will also be marked with a stripe that is color coded for the assigned apparatus. This stripe shall be a minimum of RVFD Policy #5401 December 15, 2003 Revised Page 2 of 2 2” and placed next to the station stripe location that is not likely to come in contact with another object. E. This policy establishes labeling requirements for all portable tools and equipment. F. All tools and portable equipment will be labeled with the unit ID. Unit ID shall consist of the unit number and/or the vehicle stock number. There will also be a label or property sticker placed on the tool or equipment provided by the Department.
