Textile Institute of Pakistan, Karachi. TEXT202 (Fabric Technology) The Weft Preparation The weft preparation depends upon the type of loom being used. All shuttle-less looms use the ordinary cone as a weft supply package which is placed outside the loom so regular cone winding is the sole weft preparatory process for shuttle-less looms. In case of shuttle loom, a shuttle is used in weaving which also carries a weft supply package called as the pirn. These pirns are wound using a special winding process of pirn winding.
