A Virtual Energy Manager (VEM) is a platform/system developed to monitor in detail the electricity usage by users, depending on the location and number of Digital Power Meters (DPM) installed on the user's premises. Will using this VEM be able to reduce the total electricity consumption and TNB bill at my premises? The Virtual Energy Manager (VEM) can help reduce electricity consumption and bills by collecting data, analysing it, and providing reminders (alerts) to users for appropriate saving actions. How does Virtual Energy Manager (VEM) help in managing and reducing energy consumption in my premises/company? VEM displays near real-time information on energy consumption in the premises/building, depending on the installation location of the DPM. It assists the Facility Manager (FM)/Energy Manager (EM) in planning energy use through a warning system (alerts) delivered via the Telegram application. Is this Virtual Energy Manager an application that I need to download on my smartphone? No, there is no need to download an application. VEM is a web-based platform accessible through any web browser, such as Google, Internet Explorer, etc. What are the benefits if I install VEM? By installing VEM in the premises/building, users can view detailed energy consumption for each equipment/floor/building, depending on the number and location of DPMs. The automated data collection, monitoring, analysis, and alert systems assist the Facility Manager (FM)/Energy Manager (EM) in implementing more effective energy-saving measures for enhanced energy efficiency. Software - The VEM system aims to monitor the total energy consumption for each Digital Power Meter (DPM) installed through the website. The user will receive a User ID and Password to access the website. Yes, VEM can integrate with the existing system if it is open-source, and the data can be accessed using an Application Programming Interface (API). What type of 'sensor' will be installed? It is up to the user and the tools they wish to use for data retrieval. The device must support communication protocols such as RS232/RS485, Modbus, 4-20mA, etc. How much does VEM installation cost? The cost of installing VEM varies for each user and depends on the quantity of Digital Power Meters (DPM) and other equipment that will be installed according to the customer's requirements. A site visit will be conducted before the final total cost is determined and released. Is the purchase of VEM a "one-off," or will there be additional costs? The cost of VEM is divided into two parts: "Hardware" and "Software." Hardware - Users only need to make a one-time payment, and this cost depends on the quantity of DPM and the installation of other related equipment. This equipment will be the full property of the user. Software - The user needs to make a payment for maintenance and subscription to the VEM system. This cost has to be paid by the user every year until the end of the contract (minimum contract renewal is for 3 years). And how long is the contract? Yes, the user needs to sign a contract with TNBX for the purpose of installing VEM at the user's premises/building. The contract period is 3 years. What will happen if the contract period (3 years) has expired? The user can choose to continue the contract or not. i. If the user does not renew the contract with TNBX, the user will not be able to access the VEM system (software) online. However, the equipment (hardware) that has been installed in the user's premises/building will be the user's property, and the user is fully entitled to it. ii. If the user continues the contract with TNBX (minimum contract renewal is for 3 years), the user can access the VEM system (software) online during the contract period. How long does it take to install VEM at my premises? The installation period depends on the number of DPM and other related equipment. TNBX will contact the user before making the installation. PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL RETAIL ACADEMY 27 Do I need to "shut down" my factory or office for the purpose of VEM installation? There is no need to shut down the premises in the Low Voltage (LV) section if the place has an analog current meter. If the place lacks a CT and only has a busbar, a shutdown is necessary for installation work. Do I need to do maintenance for this VEM system? Or what should I do to keep this VEM in good condition/working? For the VEM system, the user does not need to perform maintenance. Users can contact TNBX if there are any issues when accessing the VEM website. For the installed equipment (DPM, EMS Toolkit), there is no periodic maintenance that needs to be done by the user. However, for the Digital Power Meter (DPM), re-calibration should be conducted every 2 years. The user only needs to ensure that the installed appliance is in good condition and that no modifications have been made. How long is the warranty period given by TNBX for the appliances that have been installed? The warranty period for the tools (DPM, EMS Toolkit) is three years from the date of installation.
