Rights to participate in workplace safety activities ## What is Workplace Responsibility? - Workplace responsibility refers to the obligations and duties that employees are expected to fulfill as part of their roles within an organization. ## What Are the Workplace Responsibilities? 1. Task completion 2. Reliability and dependability 3. Adherence to policies 4. Proactive engagement 5. Accountability for actions 6. Commitment to team goals 7. Ethical conduct ## What are the employer's responsibilities? - Implementing measures identified by risk assessments. - Appoint competent people to implement appropriate measures. - Set up emergency procedures. - Provide clear information & training to employees. - Work together with other employers in the same workplace. - It is the employers responsibility to ensure and employee is protected while at work. ## What are the employee’s responsibilities? - To take reasonable care of your own health and safety - If possible, avoid wearing jewelry or loose clothing if operating machinery - If you have long hair or wear a headscarf, make sure it’s tucked out of the way - To take reasonable care not to put other people -fellow employees and members of the public - To co-operate with your employer, making sure you get proper training and you understand the company’s health and safety policy - Not to interfere with or misuse anything that’s been provided for your health, safety or welfare - To report any injuries, strains or illnesses you suffer as a result of doing your job - To tell your employer if something happens that might affect your ability to work ## Contract of Employment - A contract of employment is an agreement between an employer and an employee. - The contract doesn’t have to be in writing, but you’re entitled to a written statement of the main terms within two months of starting work. ## Final written warning - If an employee has a current warning about conduct or performance, further misconduct or unsatisfactory performance may warrant a final written warning. This warning, typically 6 months long, states that further misconduct or unsatisfactory performance may lead to dismissal. ## Apprentices' Rights - Apprentices and trainees are entitled to have the opportunity to learn all the skills of their trade or traineeship though their on-the-job training in the workplace. - Apprentices and trainees are also entitled to be given every opportunity to complete the formal training specified the training plan and delivered by the registered training organization. - Apprentices and trainees are entitled to receive payment for their work in accordance with the relevant industrial award or agreement and to work a healthy and safe working environment free of any form of harassment. ## Apprentices' Responsibilities - An apprentice is responsible for learning and developing practical skills, participating in classes and workshops, observing all health and safety codes, completing tests and assignments, and delivering presentations to staff and other stakeholders. ## REPUBLIC ACT No. 11058 ## Section 5 - 8: Workers' Rights 1. Furnish the workers a place of employment free from hazardous conditions that are causing or are likely to cause death, illness r physical harm to the workers. 2. Give complete job safety instructions or orientation to all the workers especially to those entering the job for the first time. 3. Inform the workers of the hazard associated with their work, health risks involved or to which they are exposed to. 4. Use only approved devices and equipment for the workplace. 5. Comply with OSH Standards including training, medical examination and where necessary provision of protective and safety devices such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guards 6. Allow workers and their safety and health representatives to participate actively in the process of organizing, planning, implementing and evaluating the safety and health program. 7. Provide where necessary, for measure to deal with emergencies and accidents including first aid arrangements. # Thank You!
