People usually write business letters to communicate with companies, organizations, or individuals with the **purpose of applying for a job, making requests, seeking appointments, etc**. 2. **Contract** -- A written agreement **between two people under mutually agreed terms**. 3. **Monograph** -- A **detailed essay or book on a very specific topic**. Usually written by professionals or academicians on topics of interest concerning their specific fields. a. Single Authored manuscripts in ONE Volume. b. Type of book written on a single specialized topic, devoted mainly to research works. 4. **Printed action memo** -- A **ready-format memorandum that only requires a checkmark on the appropriate box** that contains the message. This is especially useful for busy people who need to make quick decisions and act on the circumstance or situation. 5. **Graphic aids** -- Drawings, sketches, and illustrations that aid the readers in understanding the presented data. 6. **Instructional manuals** -- Written to guide the readers on how to assemble, maintain, and operate an apparatus, machine, or gadget. 7. **Brochures** -- Pamphlets or flyers that endorse a product in such a way that the potential customer will be convinced that the product is effective and eventually avail of the product. c. **Pamphlets** -- Non-commercial promotion d. **Brochure** - Use to advertise products and services 8. **Proposals** -- Written suggestions on how to make the company or organization more productive and successful. Properties of Technical Writing: 1. **Subject Matter** -- "What will I write about?" 2. **Audience** -- "Whom am I writing for?" 3. **Expression** -- two modes in which TW has to be delivered (writing it or reading it). Your expression of the content will depend on your awareness of your audience's/ reader's psychology. 4. **Style** -- How the material is written. (Clear, specific POV, objective, impartial, and unemotional style in writing) 5. **5. Arrangement of material** -- How ideas should be organized in chronological, spatial, or logical order, from general to specific or specific to general, and use of illustrations to present the information. Other forms of WRITING: 1. **Technical Writing** -- Conveys specific information about a technical subject to a specific audience for a specific purpose. 2. **Creative Writing** -- Fiction, Poetry, short stories, plays, and novels and far different from technical writing. 3. **Expressive writing** -- a subjective response to a personal experience (Journals and Diaries) 4. **Expository writing** -- "exposes" a topic analytically and objectively (News Reports, Academic Essays, Magazine articles). Does not necessarily expect a response or action from the reader. 5. **Persuasive writing** -- Depends on emotional appeal.
