Outline Soccer Outline Overview of the sport Two rival teams must face each other for 90 minutes, with the objective of scoring goals. The team that scores the most goals after 90 minutes wins. 2. Substitute players Maximum 5 substitutions per match Maximum 3 substitution windows Central referee, 2 assistant referees, 1 fourth referee Technical staff Technical Director Technical Assistant Physical Trainer Goalkeeper Trainer Match 2 halves of 45 minutes each, 15-minute break between halves. 1 ball 2 goals After the first half, the teams must change sides Gameplay Each team has the mission of scoring goals and preventing goals from being scored against them. Each team must play to have possession of the ball and build an attack with passes to score goals. The coach will decide on the formation he thinks is appropriate for facing the game. The team that does not have the ball must constantly try to take the ball away from the team that has it. The game begins with the referee's first whistle and ends when 90 minutes have elapsed and the referee takes the ball to end the game. Rules The ball cannot be touched with the hand, except by the goalkeeper or when there is a throw-in. No fouls must be committed or you will get a yellow card. If you get two yellow cards in the same match, you are out. Also, if you commit a serious or strong foul, you can get a direct red card and be expelled from the game. In order for a goal to be awarded, a throw-in, goal kick, or corner kick, the ball must pass 100% of the way over the marked line. The goalkeeper can also use his feet, and he can only use his hands inside the area. If he touches the ball with his hand outside the area, a foul will be awarded to the opposing the team and the goalkeeper will be immediately expelled. The goalkeeper cannot take a ball with his hand if a teammate passes it to him with his foot. In order to receive it with his hand, the pass must be with his head, chest, or thigh. Offside. This is when a player who is attacking is in front of the opposing defenders' line, this is called offside the play is invalidated, and a free kick is awarded to the team defending that attack. When a player can be in front of the defenders' line and not be called offside. When he is before the half-court line When the pass is received from a throw-in. Common penalties/faults Verbal warning: The referee warns a player verbally when he commits a minor infraction Yellow card: Penalty for committing a less serious infraction. Red card: Penalty for a reckless foul or foul with excessive force Outside the area anywhere on the field of play: Free kick Inside the area if a team is attacking and the defending team commits a foul: Penalty Touching the ball with the hand grants the opposing team a free kick, if it is inside the area of the player who touched the ball with his hand, it is a penalty. 4. Throw-in: Throw-in with the hands from behind the neck, when the ball goes out of the field by the sideline. Goal kick: When the ball goes out of the field by the last line, the goalkeeper must take it is from a small area. Offside: A forward is in front of the last line of defenders, this is offside and a free kick is awarded to the defending team. 5. Scoring A goal is scored when the ball passes the line of the 3 posts in its entirety, that is, the the ball is 100% inside the goal. 6. Etiquette and Attire Ball Size 5 A player must wear a distinguishable uniform, different from the other team, that includes a shirt, Shorts, long socks, shin guards, and cleats. And goalkeepers have to add to it, specific gloves. No jewelry is allowed. Hair must be out of your face. 12. Differences between males and females There is no difference written down for males and females as for rules but, male games are more physical and direct. For females, you will see more ball control and technique. 13. Differences between HS/College/Professional There is a slightly different change of rules and ball and field size for various ages and younger pla The game in professional soccer is faster than in college and HS. There is way more responsibility in professional soccer than the others. 14. Controversial issues/Mainstream news Corruption: Allegations of bribery and corruption have risen from time to time involving the Leagues, teams, and even players VAR: The Video Assistant Referee has been criticized for overanalyzing the plays, compromising the game. Also, some say that it has reduced the accountability of on-field referees. Racism: abuse of players, referees, and fans because of their skin color and/or ethnicity.
