Transparency of protocols Generatability. Verifiable Free of values 9 NOW, WHAT THEN DO WE MEAN BY EMPIRICAL RESEARCH? The collection of premises to be found in the literature in our field is subject to two kinds of investigation – confirmatory or contradictory Confirmatory research helps us have more confidence in the premises that are more abstract Contradictory or ‘refutation oriented’ research suggests that something is wrong with the premises or the logic Confirmation and contradiction generally based upon observation – empirical evidence – although in some cases it can be based on critique of the logic (see critical writing) 10 The process to select the research topic Identify area Ensure the From general of literature to specific interest availability Time Flexibility Data access management Develop a thesis statement 11 Step 1 Identify the area of interest. For example marketing is your area of interest and you have a motivation to explore this area further. Area of interest can be (Human resource, supply chain, information technology, digital marketing or applied finance). 12 Step 2 From generic to specific. For example marketing is a general area of research and within marketing, consumer buying intention towards a tooth paste brand would be your specific area of research. So, your specific area of research would be consumer buying intention. 13 Step 3 Ensure the availability of substantial literature on the chosen topic of interest. Make sure literature is available from the reliable sources/data bases. 14 Step 4 Make sure you can access the data bases to extract the timely information in terms of literature review and other parts of research. 15 Step 5 Be flexible, you may find other area of interest while going through the literature review. A new area research may attract your attention. Consider it as an opportunity. 16 Step 6 See the project time lines, researcher must make sure the timely completion of the research project. The research objective must be achievable within a stipulated time frame. 17 Step 7 Develop a thesis statement. After carefully reviewing the literature, design a catchy and appropriate thesis statement for example, within a marketing domain, your are interested to investigate the consumer buying intention so the thesis statement would be, factors impacting consumer buying intention for a medicated tooth past brand. 18 Some Useful Research AI Tools & Softwares https://scholar.google.com/ https://www.perplexity.ai/ https://harzing.com/resources/publish-or-perish https://app.humata.ai/
